I knew he was interested, but I felt it was too early to tell him about the real behavior of his family members. He would only grow up to harbor hatred for them, even though they seemed to be on his side. Till then, he still didn't like Claire that much.

"Don't worry, son. Don't mind my behavior. It's all good, and there is nothing there. I just have to iron out some serious matters with them."

"It's about her, isn't it?" He asked, shocking me. I felt stupid and I was dumbfounded. He had known all along, and it was stupid to even think he didn't know what the whole hullabaloo was about. It was obvious.

"Yes, son. That's what it is about. But you don't have to worry. It's not going to cause any problems."

"But Dad, you seem like there are problems already. You don't even seem as calm as you used to be. Maybe you need to rest and take care of yourself for a bit."

I smiled and patted his back. He still didn't like or want Claire, and it would take a while for him to do that. It was not easy for him, but I knew he was strong enough to pull through when he needed to.

Chapter Twenty-Three

Jonah

Theyarrivedveryearlythe next day. I had expected them, but not that early. They arrived like government officials that were sent to capture some criminals. Although I didn't feel like talking that early, I got up to talk to them.

Will was just about to leave for school when they arrived. According to him, they were doing some extracurricular activities since they were done with the term. He was at the forefront of a couple of them and I loved it.

Andrew tried to be nice to him, but Will gave a brief greeting and slipped out quickly. He was not interested in staying any longer, and I knew he hoped they didn't too.

"So we are here to talk about my relationship with Claire. She is pregnant with my child and I want to be with her. Why was that so hard for you to accept?"

"Oh, I don't think we still oppose that. What do you mean?"

"Why did you go to meet her that day? You didn't even tell me! I almost lost my relationship because of that, and I know you all would be happy to see that happen anyway!"

"Hey, Jonah. Calm down. We don't have any intentions of doing that. We want you to be happy."

"Then stop trying to ruin my happiness. She is the woman I want to be with, and you have no right to oppose that. I love her. I'm sure you're not alien to what it means to love someone."

"Jonah, are you sure you are making the right decision?" Andy asked. He looked doubtful and I hate that all-knowing look on his face. I would sooner punch it off his face than stay pissed off.

"Yes, I am an uncle. You seem jealous because you're the main protagonist behind this movement against me and my intended wife."

"Intended wife?"

"Yes! Intended wife. I will marry Claire, she’s the woman of my dreams, and you all can't do anything about that!"

I was right, though a little emphatic in my tone, it was necessary. They had to get a piece of my mind and the steel I put in it was apparent. It seemed to work a treat though, and I felt fulfilled.

"Alright, we understand you. But why do you have to talk to us that way? We just want the best for you!"

"The only thing I need from you now is support! You're a wonderful family, and I appreciate the effort. But you have to respect my decision too. Claire is perfect for me, and that is final!"

After the discussion ended, we all apologized to each other for the harsh comments and reached a kind of consensus. They would never attack Claire again, and they accepted her as a part of the family.

I offered them drinks and refreshments. Funny enough, I had a good time alone with Uncle Andy away from the women. We even had a heart-to-heart talk.

We played a few games together. I had a few of those indoors because of my son. So we used that opportunity to talk more.

"You love her don't you?" He started. I looked at him, a little baffled. Of course, I did!

"I had to ask because I saw how you defended her. I thought you only lusted after her but there was just something about the way you spoke that made me see you were truly in love. Why is she so special anyway?"

I looked at Andy and smiled. I did not have a real answer to that because I just loved Claire generally. I wondered if it was truly because of her beauty because that was just one of the things I loved about her.

"Everything, uncle. Yes, I know she is beautiful. But that's not everything. There is so much more to her and I can't explain till you get to know her better."
