He suddenly put another kiss on her back and moved to get up. Eden sighed and stretched a bit, now that he was off her back. She turned toward Dante, watching him move around. He grabbed the two pups and put them on the bed. Since when were Beer and Bullet there? Had someone brought them into the bedroom while they were sleeping? She hadn’t realized...

The two pups happily walked up to her, both wide awake already. From what she could see, someone had already cleaned and fed them. Rolf? In any case, she was glad to hug them and play with them on the bed while Dante walked up to the kitchen counter. She soon smelled freshly brewed coffee. This wasn’t a bad way to wake up...

A few minutes later, he walked over with two cups and a plate with two pastries on it. Eden raised her eyebrows at the croissants. They smelled like hot butter and looked freshly baked...

“Seriously?”

“The advantages of owning a freezer,” chuckled Dante. “I have more if you want.”

“I’m going to eat both,” she immediately said.

“Fine by me.”

Eden sighed, but quickly began eating breakfast, more because of the food than actually being hungry. Dante didn’t seem to mind watching her eat the two pastries either; he quietly drank his coffee while ignoring the pups that were making a ruckus on the bed. For a while, they had breakfast in silence, a bit awkwardly.

“...Are you ready for today?” she finally asked.

“I’m ready for anything,” he confidently replied.

Then, Dante got off the bed and went to the little stereo in one corner of the room. He put on some music, making Eden smile.

“You really do like jazz?” she asked, a bit surprised.

“I know you do. And you promised me you’d sing again.”

Eden almost choked on her second croissant. She had forgotten about that! She didn’t think he was really serious about it... However, right now, Dante was slowly coming back to the bed, with an expectant look and a wry smile on his face. When he put his two hands on the mattress, leaning his body forward, Eden blushed uncontrollably.

“Come on. I’m sure you know that one.”

“I can’t sing if you’re... that close and making that face.”

“What face?”

“Like you’re about to screw someone over.”

“That’s my normal face.”

“Well, do something about it.”

Dante chuckled, but kept leaning forward. To her surprise, he only took their empty cups back. With a hint of disappointment in her heart, Eden watched him leave the room again with the dishes. She let out a faint sigh. It was true she knew that song. In fact, she loved that song. It was strangely fitting too. With Dante out of sight, she began singing without even thinking about it, her hands petting her dogs.

As always, when she sang, her voice got a bit lower and slower and began to fill the room. She closed her eyes, thinking about those nice lyrics of love... Then, she felt Dante’s hands gently pulling her up. He put her arms around his neck, put his around her waist, and slowly, began to dance with her. Eden kept singing, a bit disturbed, but their slow dance was so effortless, she was more perturbed by Dante.

“The nearness of you...” she muttered, ending her song with a faint smile.

“Fitting,” Dante said, putting a quick kiss on her forehead.

“Except for the moonlight.”

“The sunlight is fine for me,” he said.

His fingers brushed through her golden blonde hair that was illuminated by the streams of sunlight shining through the windows.

“It’s a bit crazy,” he muttered.

“What is?”

“How I love everything about you.”
