They know Dimitri and I are surrounded by guards. Same with Pyotr, since he has a more public profile.

I run a hand through my hair, breathing deeply. I suppose that makes sense. The Trinity already tried and failed to go after my elder brothers individually. Maybe they see me as the weakest link. Boy, am I about to prove them all wrong.

Did you and Dima move your families somewhere safe?

Yes. They’re all in a secure location.

We’re rushing the last of our business and coming to get you.

Are you sure that’s a good idea?

Doesn’t matter if it is or isn’t. We’re family, we protect each other.

While I’m obviously happy to hear it, something about this whole thing doesn’t sit right with me. Why me? Mikhail is the head of the Antonov Bratva, Dimitri is his right-hand man. Pyotr has public sway. Going after any one of my brothers would surely make a bigger splash than coming after me, the guy who is adamant about staying behind the scenes.

What’s their game plan here? Do they want to pick us off one at a time? If their goal is to regain control of Russia, why attackmeon United States soil? I message Mikhail again.

Just be careful.

I was about to tell you the same thing.

Hang tight. Dima and I are on our way.

I close the program in a hurry when I hear the back door open. It’s quickly followed by the angry stomp of boots against the carpet. I’m not at all surprised when Dani storms in looking irritated as hell. She’s so fucking adorable when she’s pissed off.

I can’t help but smile when I face her. “Ah, Agent Harper. I thought I was only going to see you once a week. Are you dropping off my groceries early?”

“What do you think you’re doing?” she snaps.

“I don’t know what you mean,” I reply, except I knowexactlywhat she means. She’s referring to my little show earlier, which I may or may not have done on purpose. I just wanted to rile her up a bit. Hell, I wasn’t sure if she was even watching, but her flustered cheeks and the vein throbbing at her temple tells me she definitely was.

Now it’s just a matter of getting my little voyeur to admit it.

Dani blinks, obviously struggling to find the right words. She looks around the kitchen, angrily gesturing at all the broken electronics I tore into. “Look at this mess! I don’t have it in my budget to replace any of these items.”

“That’s fine,” I say easily. “I’ll pay for the damages.”

“Damn right you will. And tidy up. This place is a mess.”

“Yes, ma’am.”

“Stop calling me that.”

“Is everything alright?” I ask her lightly. “Why are your panties in a twist?”

Dani grits her teeth. She pokes a finger against my chest, her eyes burning with emotion I can’t quite place. “Don’t give me attitude, Antonov. You’ve been a pain in the ass since I met you.”

“I’ve been a fucking angel, actually.”

“Shut up,” she snaps, her voice suddenly high and tight. “Just… shut up.”

“Is there something you want to tell me, Agent Harper?”

Dani’s eyes flit down to my deconstructed mess of a laptop. “Who were you talking to just now?”

“Nobody.”

“Don’t lie to me. I saw you on—”
