I throw my head back, laughing.

“We’ll go get whatever you want. And then we’re off to Vegas and a long-overdue honeymoon.” I lean down and whisper in her ear. “Then I’m gonna take you until you can’t walk, Daisy. Until I’m branded on your soul the same way you’re branded on mine.”

She smiles into my eyes. “Too late.”

That’s my girl. Sassy, snarky and so sweet and loving. Smart as a whip and all mine.

Because I know a good thing when I find it. And she’s all the good things.

EPILOGUE: DAISY

I grin when I read what’s in the paper. I always check Dex’s horoscope, more now than ever before. I want to tell him something but I want to do it at a more auspicious moment according to his horoscope.

Call it a last joke on my husband. Or call it a whim. Maybe even superstition. But I knew I’d know when it was time to tell him.

Your love life is on an upward trend and you will get good news on the home front.

I grin. There it is. That’s perfect.

“Honey, I’m home!”

I smile and meet him at the door. “There’s my big guy,” I laugh.

He growls and lifts me up in his arms, my legs automatically wrapping around his waist. His smile makes me melt and I wrap my arms around his shoulders. I kiss him lightly and then pull back, my grin fading.

“I’ve got to tell you something important.”

His head comes up, his blue eyes sharp, narrowed. “Was there something wrong at the doctor’s. I know you went the other day. Why didn’t you tell me what he said?”

I drop my head down and try to hold in my smile. He loves to play with me and payback is a bitch.

“He did tell me something the other day. Did you see your horoscope?”

“What the hell does my horoscope have to do with anything?”

I can barely see the twitch of his lips from looking down but I’m still finding it hard to keep a straight face.

I repeat it from memory and he eyes me like I’ve lost my mind. “What the hell are you trying to say, honey? If there’s something wrong…tell me now. I promise I’ll get you the best doctors in the damn world. There’s no way in hell that I will let anything take you away from me.” His bulging arms tighten around me and I finally give in and look up, smiling.

His brows drop and he glares at me. “Are you messing with me, woman? Are you okay?”

“I’m alright. Or I will be in about nine months or so.”

Nothing. Absolutely nothing.

I laugh and drop my legs down to the ground. He steps back and I swat him lightly.

“I’m pregnant, Dex.”

His mouth drops open and then he yells like a wild man, picks me up and swings me around until I’m laughing and swatting him on the shoulders.

He drops me lightly and studies me carefully. “Are you alright? I didn’t hurt you or the baby, did I?”

Chuckling, I hug him, listening to the fast beat of his heart under my ear.

“You’re not going to hurt them with that.”

“Them?” His tanned face pales and I swear it looks like a giant tree is about to go down.
