Remi’s laughter tinkled in the night and other lovers walking on the beach glanced our way. She lifted her legs around my waist, and I shifted my arms beneath her butt. The position made it easier to walk on the sand. “It’s a good thing this dress is short,” I teased.

“Yes. Wait! What about your shoes?” she asked, wiggling out of my arms to run the few yards to retrieve them and scurried back. She looked beautiful and she reminded me of how we used to play on the beach as a child when our families would take vacations to Florida, the Bahamas, Jamaica, and the Virgin Islands.

Still holding my shoes in one hand, she put one hand on my shoulder to steady herself, then reached up and slid her hand behind my head. She looked deep into my eyes as her chin lifted, silently asking for another kiss. We clutched at each other as things became more heated again.

We were making out like highschoolers, oblivious to anyone around us. The part of the beach we were on was several hundred yards away from where we had dinner with Remi’s parents in front of the hotel. It wasn’t completely deserted, but it was close.

I had a raging hard on and it was aching to be buried deep inside her, so engorged I felt the skin would burst and the head was straining close to the waistband of my shorts.

“Remi, we have to stop,” I said breathlessly. I rested my forehead on hers. “I want to make love to you on the beach, but there are too many people right now. Let’s go back to the room,” I begged.

Her voice was husky and her fingers played and traced over my chest and abdomen. “Okay, if you promise we can come back in the middle of the night and make that wish come true.”

“That’s a genius plan,” I admitted; thrilled that she would want to. “I’ve got a slight problem, so we have to wait a minute.”

“You mean you’ve got a big boner?” She said loudly, giggling.

I burst out laughing and grabbed her. “Listen, you!”

Remi let out a happy shriek in reaction. “He’s got a huge boner!” She laughed so hard she shook.

We fell to the sand laughing hard, but I was still holding her. We laughed for another minute before we stopped, breathing heavily. Lying there; I couldn’t believe how lucky I was. She was fun and funny, beautiful, and sexy. Brilliant and compassionate. In that moment I wasn’t sure how I’d ever lived, even one day, without her.

When we settled and our breathing became even again, she looked at me seriously, her hand reaching out to touch my face. “I love you,” Remi said emotionally. “So much.”

“I love you, too. Beyond thinking straight.” My voice was as soft as hers. My hand covered hers and I turned my face and kissed the palm. “I always have.”

“Me, too.”

“Let’s go.”

“Okay,” she nodded. I stood and used her hands to help her to her feet.

“Hop up, sweetheart,” I requested. “Your chariot awaits.” She picked up my shoes again and I hoisted her into a piggyback position on my back. Remi wound her arms around my shoulders, the shoes dangling from her fingers in front of me, and my hands threaded together beneath her bottom. She was wrapped around me like a bow, and it felt like heaven.

“You know, it probably looks like your hands are up my dress,” she observed with a small chuckle.

I laughed. “Maybe, but no one cares.”

“Okay,” she said happily, and rested her chin on my shoulder.

Growing up with Remi had been amazing, and now finally knowing her as my lover and my future, our lives were almost perfect. I was happy for my success at lifting her spirits, making her laugh and making her body shudder in pleasure. I felt bad that she was upset about the little girl and knew that her total happiness depended on that little girl. I wanted to take care of Remi for the rest of my life, support her in everything to come, but the first thing I needed to do was help her take care of Rory.

After all, she was my damsel.

Watching Dylan on the field was exciting; he was masterful as he controlled the ball and scored twice, helping his team win. The entire weekend with him was incredible and to make it even better, I was able to spend some quality time with my parents.

The first night on the beach was magical, though he was dragging the next day after practice. I had a feeling my dad chastised him to get a better night’s sleep before the game the following day. That was yesterday, and we made love like rabbits every chance we had during these short few hours after the game, though we did talk about Rory once or twice.

Dylan’s commitment to helping me figure things out for Rory eased my fears and worry. Rory’s situation was still precarious, but somehow knowing that Dylan and my family, if needed, would be there to help made me feel so much more hopeful. I felt a sense of relief that soaked deep into my heart and soul.

Now there would be a chance we’d find her family, and a chance we’d find a match that could save her life as mine was when my father had donated for me. That was a miracle, and we were hoping for another one.

Now it was our last night together and tomorrow I’d fly back to Memphis and Dylan would fly back to Kansas City. Hopefully, he’d be moving in with me soon. I couldn’t wait to see him more, have him home with me, and just have him near me. I felt safer, and easier somehow, whenever he was close by.

We had just finished dinner with my parents in the hotel restaurant and had said goodbye to them in the hotel lobby so I could spend every minute left to me before our flights home, with Dylan.
