Hack led her to a door at the back by the bar, nodding at people as they called out to him. It got quieter as he moved into a back room with a couple of chairs and storage units. Three rough-looking guys sat around drinking. One had a large gash on his forehead. Another one had a bloody nose and a third one was holding a bit of material against a wound on his arm. All three of them looked over, assessing her.

Crap.

Maybe she should have chosen to hang out with Emme.

“Hey, you all keep your fucking eyes off her, got me?” Hack said harshly. “Or instead of healing those injuries I’ll give you a flesh-eating disease.”

They all turned their gazes to Hack immediately. She let out a deep breath and settled back against the wall. Hack made one of them get off their chair, then he picked it up and moved it to her.

“Sit, baby.”

“Oh, but—” The guy who’d been sitting on the chair didn’t look too happy.

“But nothing. He can stand. He injured himself going around causing shit and called me in here when I was out on a fucking date with you. So he can stand and you will sit.”

Hack glared over at the guy.

“Yep, you sit, miss. I’m fine here,” the guy said.

Right. Okay. She sat on the chair and waited for Hack. By the time he was finished, she was leaning against the wall behind her, feeling exhausted.

“Hey, baby. Ready to go?” Hack came over and crouched in front of her, his magical medicine bag in one hand.

“You didn’t give them any treasure.”

“Of course not! I need to save that for my Littles.”

“Your Littles? Who are these Littles? I thought I was the only one.”

He cupped her cheek in his big hand. “Baby, you’re the only one that is mine. The only one I want to tuck in at night and wake up with in the morning.”

“Oh.” The jealousy monster disappeared as quickly as it came. “I guess that’s okay, then.”

He gave her a soft smile. “Come on, baby girl. Let’s get you home.”

Home.

She really liked the sound of that.

He led her back through the bar, nodding at Butch as they walked out. A car and several motorbikes raced up the road as they were making their way to his truck.

“Fuck!” Hack pushed her down, covering her. “Motherfuckers! Butch! Trouble!” He drew out his phone, calling someone. “Rykers. Out front.”

He ended the call, swearing as she peered around the truck they were perched behind. Someone opened the trunk of the car that had just driven up and drew a body out.

Oh my God!

“Come get your injured fuckers!” one of the men yelled. “And learn to stay out of Rykers’ business!”

Iron Shadows members raced out of the bar with a roar, making her squeal in shock.

“Fuck! Motherfucking bastards!” Hack swore. “Stay down, baby!”

“Hack! Injured!” someone screamed.

“Shit,” he swore.

“G-go. I’m o-okay.” That guy that they’d pulled out of the trunk of their car had to be in bad shape. She was safe and fine. Terrified, but breathing and uninjured.
