Hack rushed into Reyes’s office as soon as he unlocked it. When Reyes told him that Greer was hiding behind the sofa, looking pale and scared, Hack quickly finished the guy he was patching up and rushed over here.

“Greer? Greer!”

She peeked her head out over the arm of the sofa.

“Oh fuck, baby. What are you doing down there?” He moved over to her, holding out his arms.

She stood and threw herself at him and he held her tight. “You’re okay. Everything is all right.” He ran his hand up and down her back as she shook in his arms.

Shit. Fuck.

He sat on the sofa with her in his arms. Reyes was already behind his desk with Emme sitting sideways on his lap.

“Fuck, tonight was a shit show,” Spike said as he stormed into the office. He sat in the chair across from Reyes. There was a cut on his forehead.

“You’re bleeding,” Hack said.

Spike glanced over at him, taking in Greer huddled on his lap with her face in his neck. “I’ll wait.”

Hack nodded. Spike was a good man, and a better Dom. He knew that Greer needed him right now.

“You’re okay, baby,” he whispered. “No one is going to hurt you. I’m here. I have you.”

“I can’t believe that fucking happened,” Reyes said. “What were those idiots thinking?”

“Weren’t fucking thinking,” Spike muttered. “Dickheads have created a fucking mess. Rykers are getting greedy. They think they’re big players now that the Devil’s Kingdom are gone. They’ve been creating trouble at Pinkies.”

“What?” Hack asked. “Are they idiots? They’re causing trouble with Steele?”

“Yep. Several Rykers have been hassling the girls at Pinkies. He’s about to declare fucking war.”

“Fuck’s sake,” Reyes sighed. “And now we’re going to be in the middle of it all.”

“Gotta support Steele. Family,” Spike said.

Hack nodded. Steele’s sister had been Spike’s wife. She’d died years ago.

The door slammed open, and Greer let out a squeal of fear.

“I have you. You’re fine. No one is going to harm you,” he whispered, while glaring at Duke as he walked in, Sunny’s hand held in his.

Duke winced as he saw Greer. “Shit. Fuck. I mean. Shoot. Fudge.”

“I think if there’s any time to swear, it’s now,” Sunny told him. “Is Greer all right?”

“She panicked when Butch grabbed her,” Emme said. “She was doing better until everyone stormed in here.”

“I’m sorry, Greer,” Duke said, walking over to where Hack sat holding her. “Are you okay? Do you need me to call Sav?”

“I’ve got her,” Hack said firmly.

Duke glanced at him before nodding in agreement.

“I’m all right,” she whispered. “Sorry. Don’t mean to be so wimpy.”

“You’re not wimpy,” Hack told her. “And I don’t want to hear you talk about yourself like that.”

She took a deep breath, then looked up at him with a nod. He didn’t like how pale she was.
