He eyed her. “I know that you don’t feel fully comfortable with me yet. And I understand it. But I want you to do whatever you need to feel happy and safe, okay? So if you want to slip into Little headspace, you can do that.”

So damn tempting.

But she forced herself to shake her head. It would be too much. She couldn’t let herself be that vulnerable.

“It’s all right. I understand.”

Was that a flash of disappointment in his face? Oh shit.

“I don’t . . . are you upset with me?” she asked.

His eyes widened. “No, baby. Never.”

“You shouldn’t say never . . . I’m certain it will happen at some stage.”

“You’d only upset me if you were in pain or danger or putting yourself at risk and didn’t tell me or ask for help. And then I’d be upset because I would be worried. Not mad. Okay?”

How was he so perfect?

She was in such trouble.

“I’ll get you some painkillers.” He drew some out of his medical bag and shook two pills out of a bottle, handing them to her before getting her drink bottle.

She stared up at him from under the blanket. Only her eyes were visible. She really seemed to settle under the weight of the blanket.

He wondered how she would feel if she was under him.

Fuck. He really needed some space.

“Thanks.” She took them and he placed her water bottle on the floor.

“I should go out and get us some food.”

“No, please don’t leave me. Please.” Her panic was clear and he immediately moved over to crouch next to her.

“Hey, it’s all right. I won’t go anywhere yet, okay? We have a few snacks. We can eat that for lunch and then maybe I’ll go out later, all right?”

“Okay,” she whispered.

“Now, are you okay while I take my luggage into the other room? My room is through here.” He stood and opened an internal door. “We can keep it locked or unlocked. Whatever you want.”

“Unlocked,” she said hastily. “And it’s all right if you want to leave it open. I don’t mind.”

He translated that to mean she’d rather it was open. Luckily there was a door stop to prop it partially open.

“All right, I’ll be back in a moment. Maybe find something to watch on TV?”

As soon as he was in his room, he dumped his two bags and lay back on the bed, staring up at the ceiling. He glanced over at the open door. He couldn’t see her from this angle. And he didn’t know if that was a blessing or a curse. Reaching down, he adjusted his hard dick.

Think unsexy thoughts.

Gradually, his dick calmed down and he got up and walked back into her room. “What are we going to watch, Chocolate Pudding?”

She groaned. “That nickname is terrible.”

“I’m so insulted. I really thought that was my best one yet.”
