I pat his arm, smiling only for it to drop when I face Bishop. His eyes are narrowed in on where I just touched Edward. Fury flashes in his eyes as he clenches his jaw. Dropping my hand, I grab the buggy. “Come on. Let’s go,” I rush out and start in the direction of home. I am only a couple of steps when Bishop takes the stroller from me to push with one hand as his other wraps around my back in a possessive hold. “What are you doing?” I whisper.

He glances over his shoulder. “ShowingEdwardjust who you belong to.”

A laugh bubbles up in my throat, and I can’t hold it down. Checking Edward is far enough away so he doesn’t hear us, I say, “He is old enough to be my father.”

“Don’t care. You don’t touch him. He doesn’t touch you.” His words leave no room for argument. I stare up at him, at his beautiful face. All chiseled, God-like and serious. I grin. Bishop was always an alpha caveman, but since he has come back into my life, he seems worst somehow. More protective. More possessive. I both love and hate it. Love because I want him to be like this over me. Hate because he isn’t mine and has no right to act like this over me. Instead of saying all that, I keep my mouth closed, and not twenty minutes later, we are striding into the lobby of my apartment building.

Looking at Edward, I say, “Take the rest of the day off. I will be staying in.”

He smiles and nods. “Very well. Have a nice lunch, Aria.” He looks at my son. “See you later, buddy.” His gaze moves to Bishop, and he shoots him a scowl before making his way to the elevator that will lead to the floor where the guards’ apartments are.

When I hear a snicker, I look at Bishop, my brow raised in question. “I don’t think he likes me very much.”

I roll my eyes, pushing Baron into the elevator when the doors open. “Ten points for observation,” I mutter.

Bishop laughs. “He is just jealous that you are mine.”

I bark out a laugh. “That ego again, Bishop. You really need to tone it down.”

“Whatever. It’s true.” He crouches down in front of Baron. “Are you coming for a sleepover with Daddy later, little man?” He starts unbuckling him. “Daddy is so excited. We can watch movies together and eat snacks. It’s going to be the best.” He lifts him into his arms. Butterflies take flight inside me at his words. Bishop has never had Baron overnight, and I can see the excitement on his face as he talks about it to our son.

“You do know he will probably be asleep by seven P.M.?” I grin.

He shrugs. “I don’t care. I just want him and you in my space. Even if it is just for tonight. Well, that is until I can get back here full-time and we can live together permanently.”

Opening my mouth to speak, I am cut off when the elevator stops, and the doors open. Bishop steps out first, Baron in his arms, and strides down the corridor toward the door. I follow him, pulling out my fob and flashing it at the screen mounted on the wall. The door opens, and the smell of my mama’s roast hits my nostrils, making my stomach growl.

“Something smells good,” Bishop comments as he moves inside. He strips Baron of his thick winter all in one, before shrugging off his own coat and making his way to the kitchen. I shoulder off my own jacket, break down the stroller and shove everything into the big closet beside the front door.

Laughter sounds from the kitchen, and I move toward that direction, taking a deep breath before I enter. Something has shifted between me and Bishop since last night, and it’s putting me on edge because I know he is slowly breaking down the walls I erected around my heart.

And that scares me more than anything.

I know the damage Bishop can do.

And I don’t think I could survive it again.

ChapterTwenty

BISHOP

After dinner with the Maxwells, I take Aria and Baron back to my hotel suite. I could tell both Christian and Evan were pissed at the turn of events, but I don’t give a shit. Aria and Baron aremyfamily, and if I want to be with them, just the three of us, I will. Christian started to give me some shit about taking Edward, but I refused, much to his annoyance. Does he forget that I was once her guard? That I am perfectly capable of taking care of them both?

“I will get the crib set up in Baron’s room,” I inform Aria as we step inside my suite.

She glances around, her eyes darting to the window I finger-fucked her up against last night, and her cheeks turn a delicious shade of pink. “Okay.” She drops down to unbuckle our son. “Do you want to bathe him, or should I do it while you are doing the travel cot?”

Shaking my head, I say, “No, I want to do it. You relax and let me take care of you both.” She holds Baron on her hip. My boy looks sleepy as he takes in the room. He bounces around, and Aria places him on the floor, where he crawls toward me. I scoop him up. “Do you want to help Daddy put your bed up, buddy, while Mama relaxes?” I ask, knowing I won’t get an answer. He squeals, his chubby hand landing in my hair and tugging. I wince when he pulls a little harder than I expected.

“I am going to take a bath. My feet are hurting from wearing those heels last night.”

“You do that, princess. Go have a nice bath.” I wink, then head into Baron’s bedroom. Placing him down on the floor, I close the door so he can’t escape. Glancing around to make sure there is nothing he can get into trouble with, I watch as he crawls around, exploring his surroundings while I pop up his crib, which literally takes five minutes.

Smiling at my handiwork, I roll my head when I spot movement out of my peripheral. My heart jumps into my throat when I spot Baron standing against the bed, having pulled himself up with the comforter. I rush over to him, scooping him up before he can fall. “Whoa, buddy, you nearly gave me a heart attack.” I snuggle him in close, breathing in his scent. “Shall we go and see how Mama is getting on with her bath? And then, I can give you one.” I move out of the room and to the master suite, where I hope my princess is relaxing. Entering the bedroom, I grin when I find it empty. We pad across the plush carpet to the attached bathroom, and I push the door open. Aria’s head snaps up, gaze landing on me before moving to Baron. Mine move to her exposed nipples, surrounded by bubbles, and I lick my lips.

Her eyes widen, and as if remembering where she is, her hands fly off the side of the tub to cover her perfect tits. “Bishop, what are you doing?” she hisses.

I smirk. “We wanted to check in on you. There is a tub in the guest room. I am going to get little man cleaned up, then take a shower, and we can order a pizza and watch a movie.”
