Once the crowd calmed down, "Tonight, I'm singing some of my new songs, so let me know what you think," she shouted before looking back at the band and nodding her head.
Looking back at the crowd, "We are going to start the night off with a song called If You Only Knew! I wrote this song for someone close to my heart, and I wish I had told how I feel about him. Let me know what you think," she said just as the first note was played and it was as if she had zoned out and all she saw was Zane. As the words flowed out her mouth, she wished he was there to hear her confess her true feeling.
As she walked around the stage, engaging with the crowd, Nivea decided to focus on her performance and give it all her energy.
When the last note was played and the crowd cheered, Nivea felt so alive and free. Her music opened a part of her that felt closed off for so long. Taking a bow, and then saluting her band, Nivea never wanted the night to end.
"We want to thank you all for coming out tonight and make sure to be here next week for more great music," she shouted over the crowd’s cheers, before walking off the stage.
When she entered the dressing room, her heart felt like it was going to jump out of her chest, it was beating so fast. Walking over to her vanity, she picked up her glass from earlier and refilled it with champagne that was chilling in the ice bucket on the bar in the corner of the room.
Taking a few sips, she heard someone knock on the door," Come in," she greeted and the door opened.
A smile lit up her face when Raven and Robin walked into the room, but the shock quickly seized her when she saw her bosses, Damien, Will, and last but not least, Zane walk in.
"Nivea, that was a great show," Raven exclaimed before she hugged her, which snapped her out of her shock.
Smiling, "Thank you!" Looking at her bosses, "I didn't know you were coming tonight," she continued.
Smiling, "Raven and Robin suggested we come to check out this amazing singer and to our surprise it was you," Damien replied as she looked at all three of the guys, which would have intimidated anyone since they all stood at 6 foot tall or taller with muscular bodies that their jeans and shirts couldn't hide.
"He's right! You have a great voice and stage presence," Zane added bringing a huge smile to her lips.
"I have to agree with the guys, you were sensational, and if they agree, I think you could be the star we have been searching for," Will added before looking at Zane and Damien who, in turn, nodded their heads.
Nivea felt like her heart was going to jump out of her chest. Her hands started to shake and her breathing became labored, "Are you serious?" She asked, causing the guys to smile.
"We are very serious! If you agree, Will can draw up the contract and you can have your lawyer look it over before you sign it," Zane replied as Nivea looked over at her best friends, who were smiling at her.
Wide-eyed, she looked back at the trio before her, "I don't need my lawyer to look at anything, I trust you guys with my life, and you are family to me, so my answer is yes! I'm ready when you are," she exclaimed before she found herself enveloped in a huge cluster of hugs from her friends.
Overjoyed and feeling like she was on cloud nine, Nivea looked at her friends and realized that even though she didn't have any family after her parents died, she was glad that the Diamond Records family had adopted her and welcomed her with open arms.
Looking at Zane, she knew that they needed to talk, and then looking over at Raven, she winked his eye, "Why don't we go get some drinks and start the celebration, and give Nivea and Zane a moment to talk?" She suggested causing a smile to blossom on everyone's faces.
“Let's go," Damien added.
Everyone hugged her before walking out of the room, leaving them alone.
Taking a deep breath, "Zane, I need to apologize for my actions at lunch the other day," she began as she got the nerve to look into his hypnotizing hazel eyes.
"There isn't anything you need to apologize for, except why you never told me that you could sing like that," he replied as she walked over to the bar and refilled her glass, and filled one for him.
Handing him the glass, "I didn't want you to think I was using our friendship to get ahead in the music business," she confessed before taking a sip of her drink.
Looking at him dressed so casually in black jeans and a red polo shirt, Nivea found it hard to concentrate on their conversation.
"I’ve known you for years and I've never known you to be dishonest or calculated. Nivea, you have an amazing gift and the world needs to hear it. As for what happened at lunch, I feel I'm to blame for your mood change, " Zane stated, causing Nivea to pause as she was bringing the glass to her lips.
Frowning, "Why would you say that?" She asked.
Sitting his glass down on the bar, "When I told you I was interested in someone, your mood changed and I think I should have clarified that I was talking about you," Zane confessed as he came to stand in front of her.
"I'm confused! As long as we've been friends, you’ve never shown interest in me romantically," she stated as she placed her glass on the bar also.
"Nivea, I've always been interested, but I didn't want to ruin our friendship or make you feel uncomfortable," he replied.
Hearing how he felt, Nivea's heart was overflowing with love and joy.
