“Now then, take those rings and wear them with the thanks of all the descendants of the mighty cyclops.”

“Thank you,” Persephone whispered.

Devon put the sapphire ring on her left ring finger and she did the same.

“I’ve heard they wear rings like that in the older western cultures,” the woman said, beaming at the sight of the rulers wearing rings made by her family.

Persephone smiled back at the woman before turning to Devon. “Now we really are married in all ways”.

“I’m a sucker for tradition, wife,” he murmured as he leaned forward to give her a quick peck on the lips. Winking at the merchant, he thanked both the women and pulled Persephone back out into the market air.

They caught sight of Hera and Amphitrite outside of the Senate building, a reminder of their actual reason for being in Halcyon.

“Guess it’s time to face the music,” he sighed and Persephone squeezed his bicep consolingly.

Hera turned as they walked up, sticking a very phallic looking cookie in her mouth to take a bite as she stared them down.

“What is she doing?” Devon mumbled as Hera continued to stare straight into his eyes with every bite of her cookie.

“Being Hera,” Amphitrite muttered.

“You’re not the giant asshole I thought you were,” Hera stated as she shook the phallic monstrosity of a cookie at him before taking another bite. “Congrats on not being a huge disappointment to us all.”

“Wait… are those…?” Devon laughed as he realized the sexual nature of it.

“He gets it,” Hera winked before pointing what was left of it at Persephone and Amphitrite. “The beauty of the fertility part of the Solstice is wasted on you all.”

Devon snorted as Amphitrite rolled her eyes.

“Enough of this, we need to discuss what happened and what we need to do next,” Hera

stated as she bared her teeth in a semblance of a smile.

Ah, there’s the Hera I know and tolerate, he thought as Hera did a light jump, leaving them on the front steps of the senate building.

“Ridiculous woman,” Amphitrite muttered as the large wooden double doors opened, a guard standing aside allowing them to enter.

“The Archon and Senate awaits you,” the man informed them.

Devon leaned over to whisper in Persephone’s ear as they entered the building with Amphitrite trailing behind. “What kind of circus are we about to walk into? I am having a hard time imagining Hera as a serious leader.”

“I’ll let that be a surprise,” she replied with a wink as they walked into a large oval room filled with curved benches for spectators of the court. Columns much like he remembered from Olympus surrounded them, and at the front of the room, at a large-curved table sat Hera and the Senators of Halcyon.

“Goddess and God of the Underworld, you bring before us information on a Titan uprising,” Hera stated in an official tone from the center of the table.

Devon arched an eyebrow at Persephone, but she just smiled with a slight shake of her head.

“Yes, Archon,” Persephone stated with just as much authority. “Crius and Atlas were banished to Tartarus for their attempt to release Cronus from his punishment. There has been a rumor that General Atlas was amassing an army nearby prior to his banishment.”

A Senator with golden hair that was to his chin and strange golden eyes sat forward, “The Titan general has already created an army?” he asked, his voice gruff and disbelieving. “He has not been heard from in centuries and now he returns?”

“Hence the uprising. Something usually done in secret,” said a woman with long dark hair that fell to her shoulders. It was apparent that her ancestors descended from Goryeo, with her piercing almond-shaped brown eyes.

He knew these were all mortals with small amounts of power passed down through demi-god ancestors. They lived lifespans just slightly longer than a mortal and could earn their immortality through trials that only Chaos was capable of dishing out.

The golden-haired Senator shot a look at the woman from Goryeo.
