“A bee-hind,” Romeo replied in a monotone voice.

“A bee-hin—wait,” Josh’s eyes widened. “You got it?”

Romeo slowly nodded. It looked sinister with the mask over his face.

“Okay, how about this one, where do bad kittens go?”

“Purr—gatory.”

Josh flung his arms out. “Holy fuck! You like dad jokes, too? And old-school puzzles. Now this …thisis a match made in heaven.”

Romeo tapped his mask. “Or hell.”

“Yes, hell.” Josh gestured to his mask on the top of his head.

“I couldn’t come as who I wanted to come as.”

Josh’s eyebrows twitched. “Who was that?”

Don’t say it.Chad inwardly begged Romeo not to announce the countdown killer.

Romeo didn’t say anything, he left Josh waiting until he frowned and looked at Chad. The woman in the devil mask crashed into Josh’s side. He jolted, laughed, and then wrapped his arm around her shoulders. Chad saw the opportunity to slip away and yanked Romeo’s wrist. He dragged his feet as Chad led him towards the exit.

“You told him my jokes?”

“I needed a second opinion of how bad they were.”

“They’re not bad.”

Chad tugged Romeo past another Dr Carter. “Is that—”

“You need to go home.”

“One drink, Chad.”

He slowed.

“Just one.”

Chad released Romeo’s wrist.

“It’ll be fine. I promise. Let’s be a normal couple for one night.”

“But we’re not normal.”

“No one in here knows that.”

Romeo tangled their fingers together and pulled Chad in the direction of the bar. His skin itched as soon as they stepped into Dean’s sights. Romeo could’ve gone to any section of the bar, but he chose to drag Chad back over to Dean.

Dean ignored Romeo and craned his neck over the bar to speak to Chad. “You okay?”

“I’m fine.”

Romeo shoved his head between them. “Two beers.”

“Don’t I get a please?”

“No.”
