Tori squeezes my hand before leaving with him.

Biting my lip, I tell her, “I feel some wetness, but I don’t know why or what it is. Am I losing this baby?”

Dr. Zane shrugs, looking sympathetic. “While it’s possible, the baby should be pretty insulated. Let’s check, and I’ll get some padding underneath you in case the bleeding is heavy. I want to work within the things we know, so no panicking, okay?”

Her calmness helps and I nod. She helps me undress and get into the stirrups on the table. Dr. Zane hums when she sees a small bit of bright red bleeding, telling me to lean back. A paper barrier goes over my legs to give me some privacy.

“Take a deep breath for me, Lennon. This isn’t going to feel super pleasant, but it’ll help us see your baby,” she murmurs as I feel pressure.

Closing my eyes, I breathe as she positions the wand where she needs it. There’s a knock at the door, and Dr. Zane barks in annoyance. I don’t blame her, but Roark isn’t repentant.

“Oye, if you’re ready, I’m coming in,” Roark yells.

Dr. Zane looks over at me and I nod. “They tend to get more insistent, not less,” I advise with a small smile.

“Come in then,” she calls, turning on the monitor.

Roark and Turner rush in, eyes drinking me in. “For the record, I already broke the nose of the man who kicked me,” I tell them, and the bloodthirsty rage in their eyes abates a little.

“Damn, I thought it was a no contact class,” Derek complains, wiggling around the equipment to stand on my other side.

“So did I,” Greg says darkly, closing the door behind him. “I’ll make certain he’s dealt with.”

“Trevor may be a dickhead, but let’s refrain from anything permanent,” Tori says and I roll my eyes.

That was his name!

“I’m ready to perform the ultrasound, Lennon,” Dr. Zane says, effectively quieting everyone.

Eyes trained on the monitor, I watch it closely.

“This is the most effective way to find the baby, based on how far along you think…” Dr. Zane trails off as she focuses on something.

“What?!” I gasp, grabbing onto Derek’s hand tightly when he offers it. “Is—”

“Your baby’s fine,” she assures me. “The heartbeat is really strong, but your baby is larger than I expected, which means you’re further along. You’re actually fifteen weeks pregnant.”

Black spots erupt in front of me and I can hear ringing in my ears. Gasping, I shudder. “Oh my god. That means…”

“The baby is mine or Turner’s,” Roark says proudly, his hand turning my head to look at him. “Holy shit, you’re really fucking pregnant.”

A hysterical giggle releases as I stare at him. “Our baby,” I whisper, happy tears leaking from my eyes. “And the blood?”

I turn back towards my doctor, who gives us the privacy to freak out. “Sometimes women spot, and there’s no real reason why. I would suggest taking exercise at a lighter pace, nothing high impact. You’ll need a regular OBGYN, and if Agent Fox deems it necessary, I can do it,” Dr. Zane says calmly. “This baby is really strong, Lennon. She or he isn’t going anywhere. Would you like to hear the heartbeat?”

I nod, sobbing happy tears. “Yes. Please… I can’t believe it,” I cry.

The doctor turns up the volume on the monitor, and a whooshing sound fills the room. I hear Tori crying too, and Derek squeezes my hand, his eyes wide with awe.

“Len, that’s our baby,” he whispers, quickly reaffirming that they are all the fathers, regardless of biology.

Dr. Zane pulls out the wand, keeping me covered the entire time. “The ultrasound is clear, you’re much farther along than you thought, and it looks like this is a good thing?” she asks.

Anyone else would think she’s prying, but she’s genuinely curious.

“This is a very good thing,” I confess, laughing through my tears.

“I also would very much like for you to be Lennon’s doctor if she agrees, Dr Zane. She shouldn’t be anywhere they’ll ask a lot of questions or register her name. It’ll be safer if she can come here for regular care,” Greg explains.
