“What if she didn’t have to wait to perform at the concert? She’s worried about freezing, so what if she danced in the club instead with Willow anonymously? No one knows who my dancers are, they always wear masks as well. It’s part of the allure of my cage performers,” Bear explains.

I bite my lip, watching Lennon speak animatedly with someone on the phone. It may help to have her practice performing in a different way…

“Would it be terrible to say that I don’t know if she can dance… like that?” I ask, because while I’ve danced with her, the dancers atThe Spinning Cloudare on a whole different level.

Bear grunts his eyes traveling to watch Lennon hang up so she can continue to write. Apparently, the cage is already serving its purpose, since she’s had some writer's block.

“Willow is great at pulling hidden talents from people, I’m not worried about Lennon dancing here,” Bear admits.

I chew my lip, my eyes on the little baby bump I can see in her long skirt she chose today. I’m not worried about her comfort, because Len thought ahead and has a pillow and blanket in there with her.

“Lennon’s pregnant,” I tell him, my voice so low I wonder if he can hear me. I don’t want anyone else to know unless absolutely necessary. I’m feeling very protective of this baby, though I know Lennon can kill anyone who threatens her.

“She… how far along?” Is Bear’s question, and I swallow hard.

“She’s sixteen weeks or so. Len’s starting to show, and we’re not telling anyone until the concert, though only because we probably won’t be able to hide her bump anymore,” I explain.

“I’ll make sure Willow chooses high waisted bottoms so no one will notice. Now that you’ve said something, I can barely tell, but wouldn’t have if you didn’t say anything. It won’t be a problem, but I’d want Lennon practicing with Willow this week so she can go up in that particular cage this weekend. If she can dance, then my hope is that she’ll be able to sing at the concert,” Bear says.

Nodding, I decide that’s what we’ll do. Now, to see why Lennon’s so excited. Standing, I lean over the railing.

“Hey beautiful,” I call out, smiling when she looks over at me, eyes sparkling. This is how Lennon should look when writing, energized and happy. “Did something good happen?”

“Yes!” she squeals with a smile. “I wrote something that doesn’t make me feel like I need to stab myself in the eye because it’s so depressing. I’m hoping the cage is good luck.”

Lennon winks at me and I shake my head. The things that make her happy and excited would feel morbid to anyone else.

“Lennon, do you need anything while you’re swinging up there?” Bear teases her, now standing.

It’s dark on the second floor, but her eyesight has adjusted to the slight light allowing her to write. “I’m going to need a guitar soon to be able to hear this better in my head, but Uncle Jordan is bringing in our instruments via delivery. I think I’m good for now, though. Thank you,” Lennon says sweetly.

“Miguel may have instruments at his club which isn’t far,” he tells her, and her eyes light up. “He has an open mic night, and has been known to let bands practice there.”

“Really? I was going to beg Atlas to play the keyboard for me so I can better hear everything, but they’re still driving and that might make everyone crazy,” Lennon grimaces.

Bear barks out a laugh, probably imagining it. “I got you. I’ll be back, kids.”

I smirk, no longer thinking he may be hitting on my girl now that he’s called her that.

“Can I take a few more photos of you while you’re working?” I ask, wanting to be sure I have continued consent.

“Yep, that’s fine. Is this for when you announce the performance?” she asks curiously.

“I want to post a teaser after this weekend,” I tell her carefully because I still need to tell her about the plan to have her dance in the club. The teaser can’t be posted until after Saturday, so she remains safe.

“You’re the marketing guru,” she shrugs, already dismissing the conversation.

I take a few more photos before heading outside for a second to update Jordan on our plans. It’s going to be a wild few weeks, but completely worth it when it works.

Lennon

The cage session went a lot better than I thought it would, and I’m bouncing with anticipation. Miguel didn’t have instruments at the club, so I may just explode with excitement.

Jordan drives into the driveway as Willow drops me off. Bear explained his idea at the club, and while I’ve never danced the way Willow does, I think it may be fun. It’ll definitely help get me out of my head, hopefully giving me more confidence about performing again.

“Thank you, Willow, for dragging me out of the house today,” I tell her, winking as I get out of the car. She laughs as she waves and Derek follows me out.

“Hey guys!” I call out as I walk over to the dark blue SUV as they bail out and stretch.
