“Hey, let’s chat. It’s nothing too terrible, but we do need to move up our timeline a bit, kiddo,” I tell her, hating myself for a spark of fear that appears in her eyes.

Lennon nods, following me to the kitchen. I need to do something with my hands, so I start pulling out ingredients for an adult grilled cheese sandwich. One thing I’ve learned while being married to Tori is that food tends to make things easier to talk about.

“I spoke to Crew, and it looks as if Xav is moving money overseas,” I begin to explain, pulling out a pan.

My hands work as if they have a mind of their own, and I stare down at the pan as I talk to Lennon. “Basically, if he’s leaving, it means he’s going to hit us with everything he’s got, and we can’t let that happen,” I tell, turning towards her.

Lennon nods, her fists clenching as she leans forward at the island. “Derek is going to leak the photos he took of you at Bear’s club, and then announce your upcoming concert today instead of Monday,” I rush to say, because I have a tendency of freaking her out. “We need to draw him to us, so he doesn’t disappear.”

Swallowing, Lennon processes that. “If he disappears, there’s no reason to keep me alive, and he’ll throw everything at this house. I fucking brought everyone in so they’d be safe, Greg. I need to talk to Jordan about getting photos for the press release. Derek can take them,” she mutters, already walking out of the kitchen.

I continue to make food for her, knowing she’ll be back to finish talking to me. Ten minutes later, as I’m plating and cutting her sandwich at an angle, she comes back in.

“You really didn’t need to make me food,” she says, looking a little calmer now that she has a direction to move in. It doesn’t keep her from taking a bite of her bacon, tomato, and cheese sandwich though, I notice.

“No, but if I’m going to give you shitty news, I may as well feed you, Lenny,” I chuckle.

“This is really good, too,” she smiles at me, taking another bite.

Roark ambles in, smirking as he sees us chatting. “I’m glad you finally figured out how to break news to her after having immense amounts of practice,” he says, giving me shit.

Rolling my eyes I fill a glass with water, placing it next to Lennon. “Yeah, yeah. I’m a little dense. I’m hoping I’ll be able to give you more good news soon. We just need to get through the next few weeks, okay?”

“Yes, we’re so damn close,” she sighs. “Thank you for all of the work you’re doing on the house. If shit goes sideways…”

“I want you to have a place you can fucking hide and message for help,” I growl. “I want to show you when you’re finished what Link and I have planned.”

Lennon snorts, shaking her head. “Show me now, I’m capable of doing multiple things, Greg.”

Brat. There’s fire in her eyes now instead of fear, though, so I guess I didn’t suck at this conversation after all.

Lennon

It’s Saturday night, and I’m wearing high waisted leather shorts with fishnets under them and a cropped purple bra top. Willow dropped them off this morning before giving me a feral grin and telling me to break a leg. She’ll be in a cage next to me, shaking her ass.

Staring at myself in the full length mirror, I think about how surreal it is that a week has already passed by since I came up with this insane idea. Biting my lip, I wonder if my tattoos are too prominent.

Can someone tell if this is me when I’m wearing a mask? Curling blonde and purple hair frame my face, a wig to cover my very loud hair. I’m taking as many precautions as possible, and as I look at all of the skin showing, I throw up a small prayer of thanks that I don’t have any scars on my torso from my time with Xav at Hidden Hills. Unfortunately, my inner thighs are crisscrossed with white scar lines, but there’s nothing I can do about that.

“Lenny, you look amazing,” Roark says, peeking his head into our bedroom. “Fook, getting you out of the house may be difficult.”

I blush, turning to face him. “Let me grab my mask, and I’m calling this as good as it gets,” I chuckle self-deprecatingly. Dark red lipstick stains my lips, my eyeshadow dark and broody. I’m going for ‘bad ass bitch’, and hope it helps tonight.

Striding towards Ror in my heeled combat boots, I enjoy the heat in his eyes. We decided to make a night of it, and Bear has increased his security. He promised no one would bat an eye at it because he’ll often do this for the weekend crowd.

Grabbing my hand, he walks with me to the main level. I’ve worn less than this at concerts, so I don’t expect the reaction that I receive when I walk into the living room.

“Nope,” Jordan mutters. “I know I was for this plan, but I think I’m an idiot.”

Turner walks up to me, pushing my chin up so my eyes will meet his. “I need you to meet me in the basement later in that wig,” he growls in my ear and I shiver.

“Yes, sir,” I murmur, giggling.

“And I suggest we all avoid the basement tonight,” Mav says loudly, causing me to hide my face in Turner’s chest. “Damn am I glad you’re going to be safe in a cage tonight, Lenny, otherwise we’d be breaking lots of bones.”

I roll my eyes, glancing at my sister who shakes her head at their antics. “Y’all, it’s no different than when I sing at concerts,” I remind them.

Orion walks in, and I realize I didn’t see him leave the room. Holding my thigh holster and knife up, he hands it to me. “If you’re going out in that, you’re going armed,” he grunts.
