His eyes start to look heavy, but the hallway is starting to develop black racing spots. I don’t think that’s normal, and I continue to struggle to get away. Punching him repeatedly, I wish the knife was still embedded in his chest. Instead, he pulled it out, and I wonder if he’s bleeding out. His hands loosen, and I hear my name. Xav falls on top of me, and I can’t remove him.

His body is flung away from me, and I gasp, looking up at Derek, Greg, and Orion. “We were supposed to get here sooner,” Greg apologizes. Talking into his phone, he voice messages, “I need transport to the hospital right fucking now!”

There’s a thin note of panic I don’t remember having ever heard before.

Dropping to the floor, he runs his hands over me. “Where are you bleeding, Lennon?” he barks at me, and I realize he thinks I’m hurt.

“I’m not, but he almost broke my wrist, and I probably have a concussion,” I admit.

“Dammit, how?” Orion asks on the other side of me.

“For an old man, he really can throw a girl around,” are my last words before the world goes black.

When Lennon passed out, covered in blood, I swear my heart plummeted. Three men dressed as security guards run into the hallway, one falling to his knees to check over Lennon. Another begins to stabilize Xav, and I’m glad, because we are nowhere near finished with him.

I immediately miss Miranda, hating the idea of another man touching Lennon.

“I see a bruise beginning to appear on her cheek and jaw, and a few nasty bumps on her head. Fox, her wrist is starting to swell pretty badly as well. I think the cause behind her passing out is a concussion, though her wrist didn’t help. Sir, we should get her to the hospital,” the man says and Greg nods.

More footsteps follow, and Roark roars as he sees us.

“She’s okay!” I yell, not needing the big man to lose his shit.

I already feel bad enough that we couldn’t get through because a group of men got into a drunken brawl. They weren’t supposed to be anywhere near this hallway, and now I can’t help but wonder if this was a diversion. Motherfucking Xav.

“You’re all spending the night in the hospital with her, though,” Greg says regretfully. “Xav threw her around pretty good. I’ll have her doctor meet you there. I’ll pull her from her damn bed if I have to.”

Roark nods, looking over at Xav as they pick him up after packing his wound. He won’t be needing to stay alive for long…

“What about him?” Ror asks.

“A deep hole where he won’t be surviving the night,” Greg promises. “Can I borrow Derek and Orion?”

I open my mouth, wanting to protest but Roark nods.

“I need him to suffer, is that understood?” he asks, making sure to look both Orion and I in the eyes.

“Done,” I grunt, unable to begrudge this man anything.

Nodding, Roark, Layla, Turner, and the gang run out the door as Lennon is taken from us to the hospital.

“Let’s get our pound of flesh, and make this man disappear,” Greg grunts. “Dammit, I won’t even be able to truly enjoy this, because I’ll be worried about Lennon.”

Standing, I shake my head. “I’ll make sure to have someone text me regularly if I can bring my phone?” I ask.

“Yeah, let’s get out of here,” Greg says, walking towards the door. “Crew, we’ll need a clean up crew here, please. Bear shouldn’t need to worry about blood on his floors.”

“I have a team on their way here,” Crew agrees. “They’re three minutes out. Bear’s a good man, and Lennon will finally be safe, sir.”

Thanking Crew, we head out for a long night.

Orion

Greg wanted it to hurt, so I peeled the skin off Xav’s body. The sedative initially knocked him out, and then merely paralyzed him once he woke up. The sounds of Xav screaming made me so damn hard, it was distracting.
