“You’ll always be my fucking Lavender,” I growl into her ear, ignoring everyone else in the room as I kiss her forehead. “You could be bald, and you would be the most beautiful bald-headed girl in the world.”

A giggle releases and she looks surprised at it. I have no doubt that’s the first time she’s laughed in ages. “That’s my girl. We’re gonna gather every broken piece, and figure out how they fit together, alright?”

Lennon presses her lips together and nods. “I don’t remember much right now, what’s happening next?”

Smiling, I kiss her forehead gently. “We are going for a ride in a helicopter to see a proper doctor to get you checked out. One of us will be with you the entire time, and the rest will follow in the car,” I tell her.

“Us?” she asks with so much amazement, it makes me want to hit people.

“Mmhmm. Derek is behind me, Roark is clearing rooms right now so we can burn this motherfucker to the ground, yeah? Greg organized the team, but we were always coming for you, little love. We just couldn’t find this cursed place,” I tell her softly.

Shadows start to creep into her eyes, and I swallow hard. I don’t want her lost in memories, not right now. “Should Derek come say hi, or keep hiding?” I tease her slightly.

Her eyes widen. “I wanna see him,” she tells me. Her voice is raspy, and I force myself not to look at the bruises on her throat.

Derek peeks over my shoulder, drinking her in. “We never stopped looking,” he says, closing his eyes for a moment, emotion clouding his voice.

Fuck, if he starts to cry, I’m screwed. I bite my tongue hard. Derek has been so rough on himself, given up the most of himself, for this one moment.

“I know, ba—, Derek,” she whispers, shivering as she checks herself.

Derek hugs both of us, shaking his head. “You call me whatever the fuck you want, Len. I don’t even care, as long as you’re here.”

The medic leaves quietly as we stand there, and I lose track of time before there’s a quiet knock on the door.

“Yeah?” I call out, and Greg pops his head in.

“We’re ready to get Lennon out of here. Are you flying in the chopper with her?” he asks. I nod, because there’s no way I’m letting her go right now. “Right, let’s leave then. Everyone else will follow, and I’m going to finish dismantling this place. Roark’s asked for a photo when I blow the fucker up.”

“I wanna see,” Lennon rasps and I grin down at her.

There’s my girl.

“Hey, kiddo,” Greg says, stepping inside with a small smile. It actually reaches his eyes, too. He’s always had a soft spot for Lennon. “Hey, do me a solid and don’t look as Turner walks you out, okay? Eyes shut, head tucked into his neck, and we’ll be home free. Can you do that for me?”

Lennon nods and Derek steps away, quickly wiping under his eyes as he swallows hard. He’s hidden his emotions for weeks, and they’ve started leaking.

I carefully hike her up in my arms, noticing how fucking tiny she is, and how little she weighs as I lift her.Did they not feed her?!Her arms go around my neck, her face tucked into my throat. I can feel her inhale my scent and I smile.

“Alright, I think we’re ready to roll now,” I tell Greg.

Nodding, he turns and leads me out. There’s patients being led out of the hospital, and I blink as I see someone I didn’t expect to see.

“Greg, not her, do you hear me?” I bark, stopping him as we walk. Prescott is staring into space, and honestly she looks like shit, but I need answers. “Don’t look, baby,” I murmur as Lennon shifts.

Greg turns and nods, pointing at the girl. “Detain her, please. Screen everyone before transferring them out, and review the medical files, Patty,” he says.

The medic nods, moving fast to follow instructions.

Sighing, I start to relax. Prescott’s not getting off easy, I need to know what she’s been up to before she’ll be able to join polite society.

Continuing on, we’re soon out of the hospital, and Greg must have decided he’s got no more fucks to give, because the helicopter is parked in the front lawn. I glance at him, and he shrugs.

“They told me to do whatever the fuck I need to so everyone comes home safely and we get Xav,” he yells over the sound of the helicopter’s blades.

Lennon takes a deeper breath at the sound of his name, lifting her head from my shoulder.

“Good,” she yells and Greg gives her a feral grin.
