The next few months we spent back at home in Georgia setting up the cancer lab to be able to work remotely when we went back and forth between Greece and Georgia. We had decided to make good use of the vacation home that Aldric had been gifted. Taking regular holidays to rest up. Not that those vacations meant relaxing for my research-driven brain.
Aldric's combined new wealth was beyond his wildest dreams, he was able to set his lab and company up with well-qualified scientists and management he trusted. Aldric still researched but his focus changed to directing and writing papers, rather than sticking his nose in the microscope and test tubes. He is also committed to his speaking engagements and meeting with investors. He loved being in the thick of things.
For now, he also wanted to catch up on everything he had missed in his family. He wanted to spend as much time as possible with his family. We spent a fair amount of time at the vacation home after we had renovated it into a dream home. It smelled of fresh paint and new furniture, and fresh sea air.
I walked into the kitchen with a smile. My cravings were constantly gnawing at me now that our new little one was growing. I could hear the sound of Ciro running up the stairs to check out the second level while Aldric stepped up behind me and gently cradled me against his chest. He pressed a loving kiss to my shoulder and then stroked a possessive hand across my growing stomach.
“Are you happy?” he asked. I remembered asking him the same thing the night of our wedding.
I looked down at the swell of my belly and then weaved my fingers in between his, “How could I be anything but?”
