“I’ll bet. No, it’s bad news because it’shim, Tanya. It’s not like I’m ever going to do it again.”

“But you got to do it once. Isn’t that a good thing?” she asked. “I mean, you got to experience great sex with a ten-out-of-ten hot guy, and now the two of you can move on and not worry about that again.”

“I don’t think it’s going to be that easy,” I said.

“You don’t havefeelingsfor him, do you?”

“Of course, I don’t. But the chemistry is insane, Tanya. I don’t know if I’m going to be able to be around him after what happened without wanting to rip my clothes off. And I think he feels the same way.”

“So you can have casual sex with him,” she said. “You don’t have to like each other to do that.”

I sighed. “I don’t know,” I said. “I don’t think it’s a very good idea.”

“Look, I know he was crappy to you when we were kids,” Tanya said. “But there’s no reason you shouldn’t enjoy yourself now that we’re adults. There’s nothing he can do to you now, right?”

“I need him to keep pretending to be my husband.” I’d explained the arrangement to her right after it had first been made. “What if I consent to casual sex only to have that plan derailed and I lose my job? I can’t take the chance.”

“No, I agree, you can’t.” Tanya got where I was coming from. We’d both been trying to break into show business since we’d moved to LA and as a struggling actress, she knew exactly how tough it was and how big this break was for me. “But Olivia… what if you refuse to sleep with him again, andthatmesses up your shot at this job?”

I shook my head. “There’s no way,” I said. “Jake’s an asshole, but he’s not the kind of guy who would punish me professionally for not sleeping with him.”

Tanya nodded. “No, you’re right,” she agreed. “I guess he isn’tthatbad.”

“As long as I keep my distance from now on, keep things professional, I’m pretty sure we’re going to be fine,” I told her.

“It sucks that you’ve had the best sex of your life, and you won’t be able to follow it up with a repeat performance,” she said.

I nodded. “That part does suck.”

“Can we please drink wine now? I want to hear all about it.”

I laughed. “All right, get the wine.”

Tanya ran into the kitchen to uncork a bottle, and I sat back on the couch and thought through what had happened.

It had all gone sideways when he’d put his hand on my thigh. That was the problem. We were going to have to establish some boundaries for the future—and the first one was going to beno touching my legs.

And it would also probably be best if we were never alone in an elevator together again. Being confined in a close space like that had made things a whole lot worse.

Tanya came back with the wine. “All right, tell me all about him,” she said. “Is he big?”

“You don’t beat around the bush, do you?” I grinned. “He’s fucking huge. If I’d had time to think about what was happening, I probably would have been intimidated by him.”

“Damn. I always knew he would be. But is helongerorthicker?“ She made crude gestures with her hands to demonstrate, as if I might not understand the concepts of length and girth.

I couldn’t help giggling at that. “It’s both,” I told her. I held up my own hands to demonstrate his length and curled my fingers to give an idea of the thickness.

She gasped out loud. “You’re kidding.”

“I almost wish I was kidding. He’s life-changing. I’m going to have a hard time getting him out of my head.”

“And you’re sure you’re not going to fuck him again? Can I do it?”

“Be my guest if you want, but you know perfectly well that you could do better.”

“I don’t know if anyone could do better thanthat.”

“Try to remember the man it’s attached to. You’d have to be withJake Wallace.”
