I had to adjust my jeans and knew that it was going to be a long night if I kept having thoughts like that. So I went back to the game. Reed handed the mic off to a thirty-something in a skimpy crop top and mini skirt. Her name was Ariana or Adriana or something like that, I couldn’t remember. She made googly eyes at me, something she’d been doing all night, as she said, “Never have I ever hooked up with a customer.”
I shrugged, truthfully able to deny that I’d ever done anything like that. But lo and behold, next to me, Reed downed a shot of water.
What the fuck? I looked over at him, wanting to ask him who, but then it occurred to me. My eyes went back to Snow who was making eyes at Reed.
No fucking way. No way did Reed get to sleep with Snow. I noticed Snow moving through the crowd heading toward Reed with Gage right behind her like her own personal security guard.Did everyone have the hots for this woman, I wondered?
Ariana or whatever her name was sidled up to me and in my line of sight.
“So, would you?”
“Would I what?” I asked, trying to see around her.
“Sleep with a customer,” she said, her voice imitating a fake breathy one, as if she was trying to sound like Marilyn Monroe.
“Nope, sorry, it’s my number one rule,” I muttered. “No sleeping with guests.”
I slipped away from her as she pouted, and caught sight of Reed and Snow chatting away, big grins on their faces. I honed in on her hand on his arm, and the way he looked at her. No... fucking... way.
She’d been at the resort only a few hours. How?
Good job, Reed, I thought to myself. I still didn’t know whether or not it was true but even so I was jealous.
Suddenly I knew exactly what I was going to say on my next turn. I waited until the microphone came back over to me.
“Never have I ever… had sex today.” The statement came out all wrong which made some folks heckle me, but they got the point. A lot of people drank, but I couldn’t give two shits about them. No, I was looking at two people in particular. Snow’s cheeks flushed as she sipped from her shot glass of water, and Reed downed one himself, both of them sharing a knowing look.
Well shit.
My man Reed hooked up with Snow.
I stood there, stunned for a moment, just holding the mic. Reed finally took his eyes off Snow and reached for it. I handed it over giving him a knowing smile.
Lucky dog, I thought to myself.
If he could break the rules he asked all of us to follow, then why the hell couldn’t I? I looked over at Snow and thought about Ariana’s slash Adriana’s question from earlier. Would I? In every instance my answer would be no, but if the guest was a certain raven-haired beauty, that would change. I’d make an exception for her.
Snow caught me staring at her and I offered a smile and a wink. She smiled back and was about to head my way when her gaze moved toward the entry. Her entire face fell in that one moment, causing me to turn and look for myself even though I had a feeling I knew what I would find.
Fucking Hunter.
I shared a look with Reed, but Gage was on it before either of us could move from where we were at. He walked over to Hunter, and while I couldn’t hear what was said over the music and voices in the club, his posture and hand movements told me all I needed to know. Hunter stood tall, though the look on his face… I wish I could have captured it because he looked ready to piss his pants.
Gage walked back toward us, but Hunter hadn’t left as expected.
Snow was between Reed and I, with the bar to her back. Gage stood in front of her.
I looked back at Hunter and watched the anger simmer in his eyes as he realized there was no way to get to her. Not without going through us.
Success.
We beat the asshole at his game, and we would keep it up if we had to.
Or we’d kick his ass out, which was my vote. I looked over at Reed and wondered if he had the same thought.
From the look in his eyes, I had a feeling he did.
Gage wouldn’t oppose it either. He’d likely enjoy personally escorting him off the property judging by his protective stance and the way he glared in the direction of the door Hunter had just exited through.
