It instantly became clear why she was there.

The smile wavered as she glanced over her shoulder. A tall, handsome man stood very close to her. His face was chiseled with a strong jaw. He would be very popular at the resort, but from the look on Snow’s face, he didn’t seem to be her type. She stepped forward to put some space between them, but the guy followed suit, as if familiar with her.Maybe she isn’t alone after all, I thought to myself with a twinge of disappointment.

But then again… She seemed to be trying to get away from him. A creep on our hands? Wouldn’t be the first time.

“Ready to talk about the activities and amenities?” Anthony looked over at me.

“Yes, of course. As Activities Director, I have planned events for every night of your stay. These are optional, of course, but they’re a way to get you out and about and meet new people, so I hope you’ll join us.”

I kept my eyes on Snow. Her attention was back on me, her smile somewhat returned.

“Next up, we would like to check everyone in. If you could form a line, we will try to make this next part go as quickly as possible so you can begin your tour of the resort.”

The dark-haired woman whom I was certain was the journalist, Snow, stepped into my line, the hunky man right behind her. For no particular reason, I had an immediate dislike for the guy.

I went through the line as quickly as possible, anticipating talking to Snow for the first time. As she stepped up, she reached out her hand to greet me.

“Hi, I’m Snow. We talked via email.”

“Nice to meet you, Snow. If I remember correctly, you are traveling solo?”

My eyes fell on the guy behind her.

“Yes, I am,” she said. “Just me.” Her voice was low, as if she was trying to whisper. At that moment, I knew to keep an eye on the guy behind her.

“Well, welcome, and I hope that you have a wonderful time during your stay here. Here’s my card—if you need anything, you can call me directly on my cell phone.” I presented her the bracelet given to guests for access to everything within the resort and helped put it on her dainty little wrist.

It was a rule of mine that I didn’t hook up with the guests. As one of the owners of the resort, it felt unprofessional. The rest of the guys agreed with me even though it wasn’t a hard-and-fast rule for our operations. It was one I had never been tempted to break until I laid eyes on Snow.

“Thank you,” she said. Her cheeks flushed a bit. She was totally out of her element.

“We will begin the tour soon. In your cottage you’ll find a handbook with a map, a list of restaurants, an activity schedule and a description of all the pools—including the clothing optional ones.”

“Clothing optional?” She giggled and her cheeks turned bright pink. “I guess I missed reading about that on the website.”

“There are some pools where swimsuits are required, if that makes you uncomfortable.”

“I’ve never done anything like that before, but there’s a first time for everything, right?”

Her blue eyes were locked on mine.“Absolutely.” My lips curled up in a smile.

The man behind her cleared his throat and stared at me with an impenetrable gaze. I looked around, and realized he was the last to be checked in before our tour began.

Snow stepped aside. “What’s your name, sir?” I asked dryly.

The man stared at me with dark eyes. We were around the same height, but something about the way he looked at me made me uneasy. I disliked him more as each minute ticked by.

He nearly growled the words, annoyance dripping from his tongue as he spoke.

“Wilde. Hunter Wilde.”

BASH

“My name is Bastien, but most people call me Bash. We have a great library if you would like to check out books while you’re here and that is going to be our first stop on the tour. We have an extensive selection for every palate and spice level.” I hated doing the tours. I’d told Reed many times that folks could figure out the resort for themselves, they didn’t need me dragging them around, especially into the library. It was simple. You go in. You look around at books. You read. You return. Most adults know how to use a library and more often than not the guests appeared bored and ready to move on to the more exciting parts of the resort.

However, on this tour, my gaze landed on a very eager, raven-haired beauty. She raised her hand as if in school.
