“But how didyouknow?”

“He overheard me talking about it,” Gage mumbled from his spot in the bed next to Snow.

She turned around to look at Gage curiously. “And how didyouknow?”

Doc yawned and sat up from his spot on the floor. “I was calling and leaving a voicemail for you, when Gage overheard me.”

“Wow, so everyone knows now?”

Doc nodded. “I’m sorry. I know it was your news to share–”

“It’s fine,” Snow said, a smile spreading across her face as she laid her head down on Gage’s chest. “I mean, as long as you’re all okay with it, that is. I was afraid that you guys might not respond too well.”

“Why would you think that?” I asked.

Snow looked down at me with the cutest smile. “Well, the idea that we don’t know who the father is, for one. It could be any one of you, and I feared that might cause drama between you guys, something I absolutely do not want to happen.”

“Nah, we’re cool. We’re a lot tighter than most,” Jason spoke up. “And I don’t think any of us cares who the dad is, genetics and whatnot don’t really matter to me.”

“Me neither,” I added. “I mean, after all, the kid can’t go wrong no matter what.” I winked at her.

“That’s such a relief to hear,” Snow said softly.

My phone buzzed and I was about to silence it when I saw that it was Hunter’s attorney calling. I frowned and announced to the group who it was. Snow sat up straight, and suddenly we were all awake.

“You can answer it here, we all want to hear what that jackass has to say for himself now,” Snow said.

I answered the call and put the phone to my ear.

“Hi, Chuck,” I said. “We’re all together, do you mind if I put you on speaker?”

“Sure, fine, go ahead,” the man muttered. He didn’t sound happy.

“What’s up?” I asked after switching it to speaker mode. I had a feeling that a lot had changed in the last twenty-four hours regarding his client.

“The case against you, it’s been dropped.”

Everyone in the room celebrated, some silently, some less so. Jason let out a whoop sound that I was sure could be heard on the other end of the phone. Not that it mattered.

Chuck continued, his voice flat. “With the ongoing investigation into the recent charges against my client, we have decided that we should focus on that instead of the lawsuit against the resort.”

In other words, he knew that they’d lose. A smile crept across my face.

“I think that sounds like the best idea, for everyone involved.”

Chuck muttered some semblance of a goodbye before hanging up.

Snow let out a sigh and fell backwards, into Gage’s waiting arms. “What a relief,” she said. She turned to look at Gage and the two shared a sweet expression. He kissed her forehead. I couldn’t believe that someone had been able to soften him up, and it was really nice to see him happy.

“So what now?” Reed asked.

“What do you mean?” Snow replied.

“For you,” Reed said. “What are your plans now that you’re free from Hunter and free from that place?”

“I don’t know if free is the right word, I still have to figure out a way to pay the bills,” she said with a chuckle.

“No, you don’t,” I said.
