Right. The men. I always have a husband, no matter where we live. It doesn't stop all men, but most.

Winnie's collar jingles from the other side of the room as she pulls herself on all fours and canters over to me, face tipped up for a head scratch, mouth open in the closest thing to a smile a dog can manage.
