“The answer is no, Luka. You’ve done everything you could to protect Issac and me. I couldn’t ask for anymore.”
“And that will never change. I will protect you and Issac with my life for the rest of my life, however long that may be.”
“I know you will. Just promise me that you’ll be careful,” she says.
“Always,Bellissima.”
“Not always. You got shot once, Luka,” she reminds me with a grin on her perfect face.
“I didn’t plan that.”
“I know you didn’t, but do you know how scared I was?”
“I’m sorry. I never want you to be afraid, Delaney.”
“Just promise me to take care of yourself,” she says.
“I promise you I’ll take care of myself too.”
“Good. Now kiss me.”
I lean and press my lips to hers, kissing her until she can’t breathe. This is what I’ve always wanted. Delaney happy and with me. Now that I have it, I’m never letting it go. This is my life now. This is my everything, and yet I still want more.
“Once he’s a little older, we’re having another,” I tell her. She laughs and snuggles into me.
“We’ll see.”
Things played out as they should have. Everything fell into place the way I wanted. We never did find out who set the bomb off at my house, but the way we figured it, one of my father’s men didn’t want to be loyal to me. In the end, we will find him and handle business as usual. As far as who my birth father is? We never found out. We never did the test, and that’s exactly how I want to keep it. As far as anyone is concerned, I am Luka Bianchi and always will be.
