“I never went anywhere. I tried to follow you, and you shut me out.”

“I thought you’d discarded me.” Hurt slithered its way into Eli’s retort.

“And now you know better, and you’re still shutting me out.”

I was watching a television drama play out in real life. It wasn’t fun, and I hated that they were both hurt this way. What was I doing thinking about dating—fucking—one or both of them? I was already at a point where I didn’t know who I’d pick if I had to, and I’d become another thing between them if they asked me to. “I should let the two of you talk.”

“No.” Eli stepped in my path as I reached for the door. “Austin should go. I’m still the same guy I was before he showed up, and I want to spend my evening withyou.”

“Besides, if you go, he’ll blame me and we’ll fight again. At least if I leave now, I get to walk out on a higher note than when I arrived. Or at least not a lower one.” Joystick didn’t try to hide his bitterness.

Eli jammed his hands in his pockets. “It’s not like we’re going to kiss and make up.”

This wasn’t a convincing argument from either of them, but I didn’t really want to go. I felt like I should. Like if I were thinking clearly, it would be the right thing to do. Instead, I wanted to stay and watch thismake upkiss.

“Why not?” Joystick asked.

Yeah, why not?

Damn my body, heating up at the thought of this spat turning hotter. Turning physical. Was hate fucking a thing? I didn’t want that.

Did I?

If it was hot, and between these two—

Stop, me.

“Because we’re not… I mean… You’re not my date for the night.” Eli fumbled with his answer to Joystick’s question. Eli moved back into the room, putting him face to face with Joystick.

I couldn’t help but turn and watch.

“Not sure what that has to do with making up,” Joystick said.

Eli let out an exasperated huff. “It has everything to do with kissing. It’s in the phrase—kiss and make up.”

“You’re going to tell me youneverwonder if there’s still a spark between us? You never wonder if we would still be together or could get together again?” Joystick’s tone was half-taunting, half-hopeful.

Eli scowled. “Neveris an all-inclusive phrase. It doesn’t leave any room for interpretation, and there are always exceptions…”

My skin was on fire from the heat and tension in the room. It didn’t matter if my reaction was wrong or right, because it was real. My pulse raced and I wanted to look away, but I also wanted things to turn as sexy as possible. If I breathed wrong, I might ruin the balance in here.

“Do you?” Joystick pushed. “Do you ever wonder if there’s still a spark?”

“Yes.” Eep. I didn’t mean to say that out loud.

One corner of Joystick’s mouth tugged up, but he kept his gaze on Eli, who stared back at him intently.

“Fine.” Eli took another step toward Joystick. “If we do this, can we move on?” He gripped the back of Joystick’s neck and crushed their mouths together.

Oh wow.

Joystick shifted the power, taking control of the kiss and drawing the moment out until I felt it in my toes. In my fingers and nipples. God, I wanted to be a part of that sandwich.

This was where I should leave. Actually go before the room combusted from the heat sparking between them.

But I didn’t want to turn away. I wanted them to keep going, and I wanted to watch every freaking minute of it.
