All I want to do is go back to Madison’s bedroom, to wrap my arms around her and feel her breath on my chest. The last thing I want is to spend any time away from her. Right now, I just need to feel her against me, to remind myself that she and tonight are real. I’m terrified that as soon as I go to sleep, this perfect dream will end, and everything will go back to being the same.

But, just like every other thing in my life, I do as I’m expected to, following Tessa to the living room and sitting down in Madison’s oversized chair. It really is more comfortable than I’d imagined.

“Look Emery,” Tessa says as she rubs sleep from her eyes. “You seem like a nice enough guy, but Madison isn’t like other women you’ve probably met. She doesn’t do the dating thing, and definitely doesn’t date celebrities. You need to know that she…” Tessa frowns. “She has a past, and I don’t think you and all your glitz and glam are going to make her happy.”

I don’t need her to want to be in the spotlight with me. “That’s okay. We’re just getting to know each other, Tessa. We’re having fun. That’s all.”

Tessa’s expression becomes more serious. “Madison doesn’t do ‘having fun’. You need to know that. She’s not a girl who has a no-strings relationship. She’s my best friend, and I don’t know what she’s told you, but these are the facts. She falls head-over-heels, and unless you’re ready to catch her, she’s going to get hurt.”

I don’t know how to explain how I feel. At least not coherently. This morning, I felt one way, and now I feel the complete opposite. There’s only one thing I’m sure of.

“I don’t plan on letting her get hurt, Tessa.”

She sits back for a moment and thinks for a moment. Then she nods. “Good. I just needed you to know. You seem like a nice guy, so I won’t butt in anymore.” She stands up and sighs. “Now good night. Try to keep it down for the rest of the night. Some of us have work tomorrow.”

Tessa walks back to her room, and I sit and stare at Madison’s door. Tessa was right. I need to decide how far and how fast I’m willing to let us go. Regardless of how quickly Madison falls, the feelings that are flowing through me tonight are new. I’d never have done any of the things I’ve done tonight with another woman.

But with Madison, I feel like this is just the beginning.

Chapter 25

Madison

I have never woken up as sore as I am right now. My hips twinge and my breasts ache. That’s not even talking about how swollen I am.

But I’ve also never woken up so happy.

I roll over, expecting to see him laying behind me, but he’s nowhere to be found. The alarm on my phone beeps, and I reach over to turn it off. I’m more than a little surprised that I didn’t oversleep, but that thought is eclipsed by the more important one. Where the hell is Emery?

I crawl out of bed and grab a pair of shorts and a tank top to throw on. When I go to the door, I hear Emery’s voice, and I’m confused. What’s he doing out there?

When I open my bedroom door, I see that Emery’s fully dressed and making something on the stove. The smell of bacon and eggs fills the air, and Tessa’s sitting in pajamas at the table with a cup of coffee in her hand.

“Sleeping Beauty has awoken,” Emery declares without looking up. “It’s good timing, too. Your pancakes are just about done, and Tessa swore that if you didn’t get up in time, she’d eat them.”

I don’t even know what to say. My boss is cooking eggs, bacon, and pancakes at six o’clock in the morning? I stumble into the room and realize that his hair’s wet. He took a shower, too? When the hell did he get out of bed?

“Umm… What?”

Emery laughs and holds out a plate. “You take one scoop of sugar in your coffee with cream, right?”

I nod my head, and Emery starts making me a cup of coffee as I go to the table to sit next to Tessa. “Well, it seems like your new boyfriend is not only a beast in the bedroom, but he makes a mean breakfast. Are you sure he doesn’t have any single friends?”

“Did we keep you up last night?” My brain can only process one thing at a time, and I was at least a little worried about Tessa being pissed last night. At least until Emery fucked me until I passed out.

“Keep me up? No. I was dead asleep when you started screaming like you were being murdered. Somehow, he knew that you’d woken me up, and when I finally dug my taser out of my purse, he was standing outside your door.”

Oh my God. I can’t imagine how that conversation must have gone down. Scratch that. I don’t want to know.

“Oh.”

Tessa chuckles and sips her coffee. “I’d say he made up for it with the breakfast. Can you believe he makes pancakes from scratch? He didn’t even use a box mix. I’d say that’s keeper material right there.”

Emery carries both of our cups of coffee to the table and sits down next to me. “What are we talking about?” he asks, as though he didn’t hear us.

“Screaming orgasms,” Tessa says. I’m thankful that I haven’t had a chance to drink my coffee yet, or I’d have spit it everywhere.

“Ah. My favorite topic.” He says it without a touch of laughter. “According to Madison and your ChitChat videos, they seem to be pretty popular among most women, too.”
