“Just because we’re partners doesn’t mean you should forget about our little arrangement.”

What’s she talking about? “What arrangement?”

“The one where you make it hard for me to walk after you’re done with me.”

Oh. My favorite arrangement. Ever since she came back to Aspire, I’ve been wondering if things would be the same. There have been so many changes, though. She’s not just worried about one campaign anymore, and our relationship is different.

It was the one string left to take care of, and the one string I was a little terrified to confront.

“I didn’t know if you still wanted to do that. You and I are officially equal in title now.”

She stands up and crosses the room. When she’s right in front of me, she whispers, “I didn’t want that arrangement because you were my boss. I wanted you, Em.”

Looking down at her, it’s hard not to fall in love with Madison all over again. She’s the sexiest woman I’ve ever met, and it’s not an act. It was never an act. “I love you,” I whisper as my hands go to her hips.

“I love you too,” she whispers back. As I pull her skirt up, her voice quivers. “The door isn’t locked.”

I smile down at her. “That’s true. I hope no one opens it.”

I squeeze her ass, and as I lean down to kiss the only woman I’ve ever loved, she meets me. Just like the first time I kissed her, it’s impossible to believe that she’s anything other than perfect.

Maybe not perfect, but perfect for me. Our broken pieces fit. That’s all that matters. We’re stronger together, and the weight of the world isn’t quite so heavy when we carry it together.

Even if none of that were true, I wouldn’t be able to let Madison Carter go, though. The way she makes me feel is something out of a fairy tale. True love’s kiss is the cure for all the curses.

It was her kiss that cured me of Emery Brooks and let me fly.

Madison runs her hand over my chest as her tongue dances with mine. Love at first kiss or love at thousandth kiss, it doesn’t matter. It’ll always be the reminder that she’s the part of my life that I’m never willing to give up.

You can have anything in the world if you’re willing to sacrifice everything else. I would gladly sacrifice it all for Madison. And now I have her forever.

Epilogue

Madison

2 months later

Em looks just as handsome as he did the first time I met him in a golden elevator. Except that this time, he’s wearing a tux instead of a suit.

I’m not wearing a stupid skirt this time. The silver dress flows over me like water, and Em can’t stop staring at me. Hopefully, I can keep it out of any elevators because losing your skirt in front of your future boss is one thing. Losing it at your first red carpet event is a whole different thing.

“What do you think?” I ask him. Part of me flashes back to beauty pageants, but it’s not the same. I’m not getting dressed up for the world. I’m not trying to impress anyone but the man I love, and I’d do that whether I was wearing a beautiful dress or a pair of pajamas.

He gives me a grin. “It’s terrible! Quick, you’d better take it off!”

I slap his arm. “I’m serious! I know these things aren’t a big deal for you, but I’m not used to being in the spotlight.”

He stands up, the grin never leaving his lips, and he moves right in front of me. His hand runs over my cheek so lightly I’m not sure if he ever touches me. “You’re the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen. Dress or no dress.”

Em makes it hard to breathe when he says stuff like that. “Well, I’m talking about with the dress.”

“It’s a good dress.” He looks like he’s going to kiss me, but he pulls away. “Are you ready?” he asks as he takes a step backward.

I nod to him. My first red carpet event. Em changed in so many ways for me. He let go of the mask and chain, and we’ve been flying for months. But it’s time to rejoin the world.

No matter what happens, Em won’t be able to live completely out of the spotlight, and I think he likes it that way. It’s my turn to make some sacrifices for him now. Tonight, I join the red carpet royalty with Em at my side.

As long as I can be me, and Em is the man I fell in love with, then I don’t care where we go or what we do. When he takes my hand, I’m happy to do this with him.
