“Vanderbilt,” Cole warned from a distance.

Rhys waved his free hand in the air to dismiss him. “Save it.”

Cole was at his side within seconds, ripping his hand from my body. “Don’t fucking touch her.”

Getting into Cole’s face, Rhys folded his arms over his chest and smirked. “Fitzy isn’t here. And he never saidIcouldn’t touch her. Onlyyou.”

Cole shoved his palms into Rhys’s chest, knocking him off balance.“The rules apply to every Knight. You’re not an exception.”

I didn’t know much about their secret society, apart from my grandfather having his hand in it. He controlled all of our lives. And despite that fact, Rhys acted like he was untouchable.

Rhys gave a light shrug of his broad shoulders. “What the old man doesn’t know won’t hurt him.”

He clutched my shoulder and steered me toward the entrance to the infinity pool, which overlooked the bay. The entire property had a stunning view of endless water from almost every window.

“Cole, this summer has been the best of my life. Rhys is right. My grandfather isn’t here, and we’re just trying to have a good time. Join us.” I wet my lips with my tongue, and that gained a strong reaction from him. “Please.”

Cole scrubbed a hand across his cleanly-shaven jaw and sighed. “Only if Rhys keeps his hands to himself.”

I loved that Cole was so protective over me. But he needed to calm down about Rhys. It was harmless, nothing more than innocent flirting.

Cole bumped his elbow into Rhys’s arm. “Hands off. Got it?”

With a chuckle, Rhys raised his hands. “Yeah, sure. Whatever you say, Colonel. But we’re not at school, and you don’t make the rules.”

“You’re staying at my house. So yeah,” Cole fired back, “you follow my rules. Or you can get the fuck out.”

We got into the pool.

Lounging against the wall, Rhys propped his elbows on the pavers and watched me. A slow fire spread across my skin when he lifted his sunglasses and winked.

My lack of experience with boys, let alone men, showed. Because when Rhys made advances, I just blushed and looked away. Like a shy girl who didn’t know how to handle male attention. I reacted similarly when Cole’s eyes seared my skin like lasers.

Cole grabbed two floats from the deep end and passed one to me. Moving between them, he gripped my hips and hoisted me onto the float. Every inch of my skin heated from his touch.

I liked both of them.

How could I not?

Rhys looked like Henry Cavill’s younger twin, and Cole reminded me of Alex Pettyfer but with more muscle and almost white blond hair.

I was determined to get my first kiss by the end of the summer. Whatever my grandfather had said to Cole must have scared him but not Rhys.

It was ridiculous for a girl my age to have never been kissed. But with my upbringing, boys were the last thing on my mind. Intimacy wasn’t something I understood well.

Cole hopped on the float beside me, tugging mine closer. He held the white cord attached to the plastic to keep me away from Rhys. Whenever the raft drifted toward him, Cole pulled harder on the string.

“Who wants to play a game?”

I glanced over at Rhys. “What do you have in mind?”

He waggled his black eyebrows. “Wet Truth or Dare.”

I sat up on the float. “How do you play?”

“No,” Cole said before Rhys could explain. “We’re not playing that.”

I snapped my head at him. “Why not?”
