She nods. “I think I have a pretty good idea.”

This time, she initiates the kiss. It doesn’t take long for it to turn hot and heavy. I interrupt to ask, “Do we need to get back to your place with the kids?”

She shakes her head. “My dad has them at the moment. We’ve got some time.”

As I lead her to the bedroom, I say, “Babygirl, we’ve got forever.”

Chapter Thirty-four

Erin

“Okay, thatmanofyours is really something else,” Gina tells me as she watches Tanner run around the yard having a NERF gun fight with all the kids.

“I know,” I tell her as I finish writing HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JOEY in icing on the cake on the table in front of me. “He’s incredible. He manages to still travel for work, help the kids with their homework, play outside with them, help me with dinner, and then still give me orgasms every night.”

Gina laughs. “It’s good to see you so happy. Wasn’t sure if we would ever see it again.”

“I guess I should thank you guys for making me get up there and sing karaoke. One of the best things I’ve ever done.”

She shrugs her shoulders. “Eh, just invite us to the wedding. When is that going to be, by the way?”

“Pssh. You’re way ahead of us. Right now, we are just living in bliss—and sin. I’m sure it’ll happen eventually, but we are in no hurry.”

“Have you guys talked about more kids?”

Now, it’s my turn to shrug. “Tanner says he’s fine without having any of his own, but I almost think it would be doing a world a disservice not even to try to have a baby with his blue eyes. We’ll see if it happens.”

Someone calls Gina’s name, and she walks off to see what she wants. Meanwhile, my eyes are glued to Tanner. I watch as he takes care of Joey who looks like he just skinned his knee. I’m constantly in awe of how this man loves my kids as his own.

And to think I almost let it all go.

After I had the altercation with Judd, he backed off. And dropped the charges against Tanner. He isn’t exactly pleasant toward us—more like he just picks up and drops the kids off without saying a word. He doesn’t even come to the door anymore.

Fine by me.

He and Mary Louise are now expecting a baby, so I guess he’s got his hands full with that.

Tanner’s mom finally came around. She apologized for her behavior, and now, the kids, Tanner, and I all have dinner with her and Rob every couple of weeks.

Tanner sees me smiling at him and comes over to see what I’m doing. “Hey, beautiful,” he greets.

“Hey, baby.”

“The cake looks great!” He says it with a ton of enthusiasm, but I know it looks like one of thosenailed itvideos you see on the internet. It’s not pretty.

I laugh. “Liar. Let’s just hope it tastes good.”

He says, “Hey, your dad offered to take the boys camping tonight. I told him I’d talk to you, but I figured you could get some writing done if you want.”

Have I mentioned I now have a man who encourages me to write those romance novels? I’m well on my way to finishing my first one officially.

“Do you know how wonderful you are?” I ask.

He nods. “I’ve been told that many times.”

Playfully, I smack him in the shoulder. “Well, don’t get cocky. But to answer your question, I don’t care if the boys go with my dad, but I don’t know if I’ll do any writing.”

“Why not? Everything okay?”

Leaning in close, I say, “Well, I’m having trouble with this one sexy scene. I just can’t get the details right. I was thinking maybe you could help me act it out. You know… for research purposes.”

“Babygirl, by the time I get done with you, you’re going to be able to finish the whole damn book.”

The end.
