“I checked. I used a drug that won’t hurt you.” He shot a sour look at her stomach. “Or them.”

Bram would lose his mind when he found her gone. When he learned Kozlov had her, he’d blame himself. He’d relive his own nightmare of losing his mother and sister.

Addie managed to drag in a deep breath. She had to stay strong—for Bram, for their babies.

“Ric. The pilot. Did you—?”

“He was still breathing when I left him.”

She sagged.Thank God.

She had no idea where they were, or where he was heading, but she needed to slow him down. She glanced around. He was carrying her from a car. Her heart squeezed. They were at a small airport. She saw a low, single terminal in the distance, and several parked planes.

Oh no.If he got on a plane…

She wriggled. She surprised him and she got free. Her feet hit the tarmac, and she punched him.

He barely reacted and lunged for her.

Addie stumbled back, heading for the small terminal. “Help! I need—”

Kozlov lifted her off her feet. She struggled and tried to bite him.

“Enough, Adaline,” he growled. “You’ll hurt the babies.”

She stilled.Dammit.

His dark eyes bored into her. He touched a strand of her hair, stroking it. “So beautiful.”

He sounded strange. His eyes had a weird look in them as he stared at her. She swallowed. He wasn’t mentally healthy. He needed help.

“Kozlov—”

“Ilya. You will call me Ilya.”

She swallowed. “Ilya, you can’t take someone against their will. I’m in love with another man. I don’t want to be with you.”

His face hardened. “You will love me in time.”

“I’m sure there is someone out there for you—”

“No. I know you are mine.” A muscle ticked in his jaw. “We are destined for each other. I will protect and provide for you.”

She bit her lip. There was no reasoning with him.

He leaned down and she tensed. He rubbed his nose against hers.

Oh, God.

“You will be my wife, Adaline. Now, I am taking you home.”

He lifted her again and strode across the tarmac. She saw several small planes, and then a man stepped out from behind one, wiping his hands on a cloth. He was older, with a grizzled, weathered face. He barely spared her a glance before turning to Kozlov. They spoke to each other in Russian.

The newcomer nodded and jerked his head at the plane.

“We are almost ready, Adaline.” Kozlov set her down.

“For what?” she whispered.
