Eliana was at his neck the second he released to mark him back. Immediately, the sensation became much better than either of them believed it could. Their passion, once a fire, had become a raging inferno, consuming them both in its wake.

Burning passionately and ignited by desire, they rode the shared climax like a ship in the storm, tossed back and forth in the waves.

They each came down in shudders of emotion, with their limbs draped casually over one another. They stared into each other’s eyes with sleepy smiles on their faces.

“Eliana, I love you. You made my seemingly perfect life truly perfect. I would have never known such happiness without you, this island, and your pack.”

“Ourpack,” she corrected. “And I love you,mea aloha. I didn’t know what I was missing until you walked into the restaurant. You changed my life and saved the pack. Thank you for everything.”

“It was my pleasure … in every meaning of the word.”

His lips curled into a gentle, knowing smile. She scooted closer so their noses were almost touching and kissed the tip of his nose.

“Welcome to the wolf pack, my Alpha.”

He growled low in his throat and rolled over to make love to hisLunaagain.

TWENTY-THREE

ELIANA

The union of Eliana and Lucas took place on the sandy shores of the island. Pristine white sand adorned in flamingo pink rose petals spread over a long aisle that reached the archway looking over the sparkling seas. The island, as well as Hawaii in general, was a picturesque setting for such an event. But Eliana hadn’t felt the potency of its vibrance for what felt like decades.

It had been the same for her mother. The sky could be a clear, crystal blue, the beach a long landscape of divine, virgin sands, the ocean a calm sway, but grief didn’t care about that. Grief sucked all of life out of existence, no matter how awe-inspiring the world around you could remain.

She felt this change in her mother as she helped her daughter get ready in her traditional wedding dress, priming her and fluffing her hair while the rest of the women in the pack awed and giggled. Eliana hadn’t seen her mother this free in ages. There was a spark in her eye and a spark in her soul that Eliana’s father had planted there.

Eliana admired and respected her mother in a far more bountiful way since she had fallen for Lucas. The strength embodied within her mother’s very bones was a feature she longed to adopt.

Eliana stood at the end of the aisle, the warm air brushing her locks and skin. Her mother was at her side, walking her down the aisle, their arms hooked together in an infinite loop of support. Eliana had never felt so loved in her entire life.

Lucas stood handsome and lavish in his matching pale yellow beach pants and shirt. He looked the most relaxed Eliana had ever seen him, with an added accent of tears swelling in those dark sky eyes.

Bria gave Eliana away as the live band played their joyful melody, giving her daughter a kiss on both hands before kissing each cheek.

“You are a woman now,” she whispered, holding back her own tears. “You have found your beloved, and you have found your people. Your father is incredibly proud of you.”

Eliana had intentionally applied waterproof makeup. The day was going to be one filled with tears. She let them flow as her heart burst with pride, pulling her mother in for a long embrace.

When it was time to stand before Lucas, her heart thumped hard continuously, like a bomb ready to go off. But Eliana no longer felt that sense of foreboding. That had been a response to her various losses and had faded into the ether like swirling smoke.

Lucas and Eliana held hands at the altar, trembling equally as the minister made his pronouncement. Eliana was delirious with happiness, her cup of love and support brimming.

When it was time to say their vows, Eliana volunteered first. She had them memorized, feeling the crowd of their various family members disappear as she lost herself in Lucas’s eyes.

“Lucas, you came into my life like a shooting star. My life had been an eternal night, yet, I hadn’t realized it until you arrived. You are the light that guides me through, and my love only exists because it exists for you.”

The crowd whooped and hollered, then collectively clapped. Lucas made a face of animated intimidation, causing everyone to let out a gleeful laugh.

He unfolded a piece of paper from his pocket, wiping sweat from his brow. It was magnificently endearing to see him nervous; Eliana never thought it was possible.

“Well, it’s going to be hard to top that,” he quipped. “But I wanted to write something that was from the heart, and I hope that it is as close to the truth of my feelings as it can get. Hold on tight.”

He unfolded the piece of paper while Eliana felt the shooting star in her soul move. It was a strange, wonderful experience that only people who have ever been in love could comprehend.

“Eliana, my beautiful, strong, intelligent, fierce Eliana,” he said, smiling at her. “I don’t know what I ever did in this life or a past one to summon you into my existence. But you have changed me. You have helped me believe in a far more mystical and warmer world. One that coasts on love rather than turmoil. I look forward to us leading the pack in this stunning place for the rest of our lives.”

Eliana’s heart was on fire. She cried even more as the minister pronounced them husband and wife, the sounds of the spectators beyond them cascading between their first kiss. Howls of their inner wolves and those around them broke through the crowd.
