Well, so much for that plan.

The bartender appears with our drinks, and I take a moment to appreciate the dark-haired beauty.

Jay’s hard body crowds my space, and his lips ghost the shell of my ear. “Dirty martini?”

“Extra Dirty,” I reply. With a lick of my lips, I take a sip, humming when the vodka coats my throat and trying, though failing miserably, to ignore just how close Jay stands.

“Some things never change.” His hot breath hits my neck.

“Oh, but so much does,” I reply.

“Not my obsession with the way you taste.” His voice is so low the gravelly rasp makes my thighs clench. “Not the way you sound when you come, and obviously not your drink of choice,” he whispers in my ear, tilting his head toward my martini glass.

He’s moved impossibly close, but when Sophie’s eyes bug out and she squeezes her lips shut, I know she heard what he said.

I plant my hands on his chest and, ignoring the hot, hard muscles beneath my palms, push against him. “Jay, people can hear you.”

He presses closer, forcing me to feel every inch of his body. His warmth, his solidness, and the way he smells…it all goes straight to my head. “I could sincerely not give two fucks,” he rasps, his mouth grazing my neck.

I squirm beside him. “Jay, please.”

“Yes, Kitten, I love when you beg.” He runs his teeth up my jaw, sending sparks of desire shooting through me. “Now say goodnight to Sophie.” Before I know it, he’s got an arm under my thighs and one looped behind my back.

“My drink!” I whine, trying to keep from spilling it as he pulls me into his arms and cradles me like a freaking baby.

Jay merely eyes me and stalks away from the bar. Unstable, I slide my arm around his neck to balance, aware that my cheeks are probably bright red over the spectacle he’s making.

“Jay, what are you doing?” I hiss. “I came here to have a drink with Sophie. Put me down.”

When I turn back, she’s waving, wearing a huge smile. Her purse is already in hand, and she’s ready to head for the door.

Bitch. She’s just going to let him kidnap me!

“Sophie!”

“Call me later.” She holds her hand to her ear.

“You’re insane,” I hiss. “Your friends are staring at us!”

His hard stare burns into me as he stops abruptly. “I’m insane because of you, Cat. I’m fucking gone for you. So don’t push me,” he warns.

The tone. The words. The hardness in his gaze. None of it should turn me on. It should make me want to run.

But it doesn’t.

The blood traveling through my veins heats to boiling, and the fire inside my belly grows. Sophie’s right. I’m playing a dangerous game. We’re combustible. No good can come from this.

But I can’t get myself to walk away.

Not tonight.

I’m an addict. I had one taste of him, and now I’m itching for more. Just one more night…

“Do we have a deal?” he grits out, his eyes hard.

“Mind-numbing casual sex?” I offer with a grin.

Jay’s jaw ticks.
