“Get in on the other side.”

“Why?” Dimitri still hadn‘t told me where we were going tonight.

“And no more questions, or I'll have to punish you.”

“What if I want to be punished?”

“Later,” he promised. “We're gonna be late.”

Late for what, I wanted to ask.

Reluctantly, I got into the passenger side. I preferred to be the one to drive when we went places; it was part of my controlling nature. I’d had to let go of my obsessive need to control situations. With all the changes happening around us, we all had to change our behaviour. Lately, we hadn't been taking our motorcycles anywhere. Since the lockdown, my brother thought it would be too much of a risk. It would paint an automatic target on our backs.

Not to mention the increased police presence in Sandstone. Someone had alerted them to the precarious relationship between the Reapers and the Crows. They were gearing up for the inevitable between the two groups. Hell, we were all worried about the backlash of the situation we had found ourselves in. As a result, we had to watch our backs for both the cops and our adversaries.

I remained quiet during the drive, but that didn't mean I wasn't curious. Until Dimitri entered my life, it had been all work and no play. Sure there was the odd time I went to the club with Liam, but lately those times were few and far between. From what I knew of Dimitri, he had his own ideas of what would be fun. So who knew what type of shenanigans he had in store for me.

We drove to a part of Sandstone I didn’t frequent all that much. Not because it was an undesirable area, but more because there wasn’t anything I wanted or needed on that side of the city. As with most people who lived in a large city that spanned several kilometres, I stuck to my quadrant, unless there was some specific reason for me to venture to the others.

Dimitri turned into a mini-mall parking lot and pulled into a parking spot in front of a building with the business name that flashed with neon lights. I glanced over at Dimitri who had a huge smile on his face.

“Gutter Nonsense.” I read aloud. “Really?”

He barked out a laugh. “Yes, really. You know, in the last six months, I’ve noticed one particular thing about you.”

“What’s that?”

“You don’t really know how to do normal.”

“And that’s a bad thing?” I replied, with a bite to my words.

He held up his hands in surrender. “Not at all what I meant.”

“I’ll let it slide if you tell me exactly what we’re doing here.”

Before he could respond another vehicle pulled into the spot next to ours. I glanced over and Hunter smirked at me through the driver’s side window. He said something to the person beside him, but I couldn’t see who it was from my vantage point. Then the passenger side door opened, and Brax’s head popped up above the roof of the car.

“And that’s what we’re doing here,” Dimitri told me.

“I can’t believe you got both of them in a vehicle together.”

“We told you we’re willing to share you,” he said.

“I know you did.”

“Why is it so hard to believe?” he asked. “You don’t trust us?”

“It’s not that,” I responded.

“Then what is it? If you want this to work, we need to communicate.”

“You and I both know I’ve never had any luck with men.”

“That’s because you picked the wrong men to spend time with.”

“Not pulling any punches.”

“Just keepin’ it real,Kisa.”
