I pressed the button. “Lark, you’re on speaker.”

“First off, you guys need to tread lightly. This guy has more connections inside the club than any of us realized.”

“What do you mean?”

“I asked around—”

“I told you not to do that,” I cut him off. “I thought we were gonna keep it on the down low.”

“That was the plan, but I overheard some of the guys talking about him.”

“They were just openly talking about Dirk?”

“Yeah, and now I finally know who he is,” he groaned.

“You know who he is?” I gasped.

“Yup and I’m kicking myself for not figuring it out sooner, but he’s changed a lot in the last year. That, and he doesn’t go by the name you gave me.”

“Who the fuck is he?”

“Diederik Lansing.”

“What the fuck?” I gasped. “That would make Dirk—”

“The fucker is Jenny’s son. Word is she had him when she was fifteen and her parents forced her to keep him. They raised them like siblings.”

The Road Captain’s old lady is Dirk’s birth mother?

What fresh hell did we find ourselves in?

“Fuck!” Hunter cut me off. “Don’t get yourself killed over this.”

“I won’t,” Lark replied.

“That’s not the worst of it,” Lark said.

“What the hell could be worse than that?” Hunter asked.

“He’s our president’s nephew.”

“That makes no sense.”

“The prez was given up for adoption when Jenny’s mom was in high school.”

I glanced at Hunter. “If he’s been spotted, then we should go get him.”

“Have your guy check the surveillance camera. I’ll text him with wireless info. That place isn’t as secure as yours is.”

“Thanks Lark,” Hunter responded. “We owe you one.”

“If I burn too many more bridges with the Crows, I might be knocking on your door for my own personal patch over.”

“Just let me know the time and place,” I told him.

“Good to know.”

When we got off the phone, I immediately texted Liam.
