As the sensations grew, I couldn’t hold back the moan he made me feel. This opened my mouth and he wormed his tongue inside. His taste exploded on my tongue. He tasted like mint and something else. Something dark and forbidden. His tongue found mine and teased it into playing with his.

With a mind of their own, my hands raised and buried themselves into his short hair. My short nails bit into his scalp. He moaned this time. Our kiss grew more frenzied, and I was having a hard time breathing. Suddenly, one of his hands creeped around and cupped my breast. His thumb rubbed across my taut nipple. Even through my top and bra, that touch made fire erupt in both breasts.

He increased the pressure on my lips and thrust his tongue into my mouth harder. He was breathing hard too. He stepped closer, and I felt his hardness press into my pussy. That along with his kiss and his hand on my breast, strumming my nipple and kneading my breast, caused me to cry out and a release sensation flowed through me and I shook. The moisture between my legs grew and I cried out more. His mouth captured it.

He didn’t stop kissing me or touching me until I stopped shaking. I could barely stand. I’d never felt anything like that in my life. Was that what an orgasm felt like? Had I just experienced my first orgasm in an alley, where anyone could come along and see us? I tore myself away from him. When he came after me, I held up my hand.

“Stop! You have to stop. This is insane and I need to leave.”

I made it to the driver’s door. Thankfully, I had a fob to unlock it. I jumped into my car and slammed the door shut, engaging the locks. He was frowning again as he came to my window. He leaned down to look at me through the glass.

“That kiss tells it all, Cassia. You’re as much into me as I am into you. I’m not giving up. You will tell me what has you so scared, and I’ll make it right. You will be mine, in every way. We’re destined to be together. I know it and soon, you will too. Go home. Do whatever it is you need to do. Dream of me tonight, like I’ll dream of you. Touch yourself and imagine it’s me. I know I’ll be doing the same.”

His words made visions of us together on a bed flash through my mind. I shoved the key into the ignition and started the car. He stepped back as I drove off. I glanced in the rearview mirror. He stood there looking tall and immovable as he watched me leave. God, what had happened and what had I gotten myself into? Both him and his touch had released something I didn’t know if I could cage again. I was in more trouble than I’d ever been.

I practically ran into my apartment when I got home. I couldn’t lock the door behind me fast enough. I paced the small living room, trying to quiet my erratic thoughts so I could think. I’d gotten too comfortable here. If I continued to stay, I’d only get hurt worse than I already had been. I didn’t think that was possible until now. I hated the idea of leaving the bakery where I’d found myself, but it had to be done.

Blade wasn’t someone I could rely on. Men were only out for themselves, no matter what they said. If I let him in, he’d soon reveal his true colors and I’d become nothing but an object who was expected to do as she was told and to have no feelings, thoughts, or rights. I would be forced to do things I didn’t want. Then when he was done with me, he’d leave me broken and move on to the next woman. I promised myself that would never happen to me again.

I ran into my bedroom and yanked up the floorboard to get to my secret compartment. I emptied it into my large purse. I carried one that could easily carry a ton of stuff. I was able to add a change of clothes to it. I’d take enough to get by and then buy more once I got to wherever I was going. I knew I couldn’t take my car. He was watching me, so I assumed that meant he had eyes on my car. I’d have to sneak out and find a way to get to the bus station. There, I could buy a ticket and go anywhere.

Once I got what I could packed into my purse, I sat down to decide when to do it. He was watching me at night and at work. Which one would be easier to slip out of? After debating for over an hour, I decided it would be easier to do it from the bakery. I’d picked up an extra day tomorrow since the weekend baker needed the day off to go to a wedding. I knew exactly how to accomplish it. I stripped and got into my pajamas. I had to try and get some sleep. I’d need it tomorrow.

Blade: Chapter 4

After that kiss yesterday, it was all I could do to stay away from her. I’d spent hours watching her apartment last night before Coyote took over. He asked why I was watching her, but I told him I’d explain in church, which was where I was now.

Terror had called me yesterday, demanding to know why I was asking brothers to watch a woman. I told him why. He insisted that we had to talk about it in church. This was a club decision. I’d overstepped by not putting this before the club. I knew I had, and I was willing to take whatever punishment I earned for doing it.

I anxiously sat through the updates on the various businesses and other club issues we had to discuss. We’d been talking about opening a haven like they had in Hunters Creek here. It helped out victims of abuse. It gave them a safe place to recover and find a new life. Our work with so many women and kids we’d rescued from various places had inspired the idea in Hunters Creek.

The big thing was finding a location. It had to be away from lots of houses and people. A place we could secure easily, so their abusers couldn’t get to them. This meant walling it in. That was proving harder to find than we’d anticipated. Nothing seemed to be for sale right now around town. Ms. Marie’s farm would be ideal, but the club’s kids went there for preschool slash daycare. We wouldn’t bring any risk to them by putting strangers with them inside the walls of it.

Haven was put on the back burner again until we could find the location. With that out of the way, I knew it was time to tell them about the bakery and Cassia. I raised my hand. Terror acknowledged me with a chin lift.

“I want to bring up two things. They’re both related. The first and easiest one is I might have found a possible new business venture we might want to consider. We all know how successful the bakery is in Hunters Creek.” I glanced around the table. All the guys were nodding.

“Well, we have a bakery here in town. It’s called Frost Me Café. I don’t know if any of you have been there other than Jake. They have a phenomenal baker and the owner is a recent client of ours at Salvation Security.”

“You’re talking about Ian Webster, aren’t you?” Bandit asked. He must recall him from earlier discussions in church on what jobs we were doing.

“Yes, I am. He told me the other day he’s considering selling so he can move to Florida to be closer to his son and grandkids. He needs money to buy himself a house there and to help with his grandkids’ college funds. The bakery was his wife’s until she passed away a few years ago. He kept it going for her. I told him if he does decide to sell it, not to put it up until he talks to us. I thought the club might like to buy it. It does a shit load of business. I’ve seen it at all different hours of the day.”

“I’m not opposed to checking into it and running some numbers, if Mr. Webster is willing to talk. However, I’m curious how you know so much about how many people come and go at all different hours of the day? Have you been spying on it? If so, why?” Terror asked. He knew the truth. I’d told him Cassia worked there. He was giving me the opening to bring her up.

“Because the woman I intend to make my old lady works there. I met her after I went to check with Ian to make sure he was satisfied with our new security system installation.”

“You have a woman? Why haven’t we met her?” Gunner asked, sounding mystified.

“She’s in trouble and scared. She refuses to even consider a relationship.”

“Whoa, is that why you’ve been asking some of us to keep an eye on that woman?” Capone asked.

“Yeah, partially. Listen, I should’ve brought this before the club before I asked any of you to help me. I’ve been watching her mainly to make sure she was safe. She goes into the bakery in the middle of the night. She’s alone. Anyone could hurt her.”

“What changed to make you ask others to watch her?” Savage asked.

“Earlier this week, we had a real talk. I asked her out and she said no. She was so skittish afterward, I got worried she might run. I went to her place like I usually do to follow her to work, only she was gone. I panicked and went to the bakery, hoping she was there. She was, and I ended up confronting her. She freaked out when she found out I’d been watching her and knew where she lived.”
