Sorry, I took advantage of you.

Glad you came all over my cock like a good little slut though.

I snapped my knees closed and clutched my gown closed over my chest, hiding myself from him even though he had already seen and tasted most of it.

He smirked at me with that threatening snarl and then ran one of his large hands across his abs again.

I don’t know why, but the motion made me feel… feral.

It was such a turn-on.

And I hated myself for that.

He got dressed, slowly, like he didn’t care that I lay before him watching. I felt the tonic fog start to descend on me again, now that the adrenalin and fear were gone.

My eyelids fluttered closed and my body relaxed into the bed fully until I heard the clink of the glass on the dresser top and my eyes popped open.

The man stood there, taking the glass off the top of the tonic before lifting the bottle to his nose to sniff the yellow drink.

“Don’t drink it,” I whispered and then cleared my throat to try to add more volume to it. “It’s drugged.”

He put the bottle back down on the dresser and looked at me out of the corner of his eye. His eyebrows were pinched tightly over his eyes and his face was no longer impassive or indifferent.

Now it was enraged.

"Drugged with what?”

I shrugged my shoulder and turned over on my side to face him, unable to keep my eyes open any longer so I let them close. “Something to keep me obedient.”

When I finally opened my eyelids again, he was still staring at me with that angered look on his face. He put the glass back over the opening of the bottle and returned to the bed, bending down to pick up the sheet and blanket that had been set on the floor before theceremony.

He flicked his wrists and fanned them both out over the top of my curled-up body and stood over me, “Your marriage has been blessed,” He said. “Good luck with your new husband.”

Then he turned and walked back out of the bedroom, tossing the key down on the table next to the door and flipping the lock from the inside before closing the door.

He locked the rest of the world out and gave me what was hopefully the only key.

That was a gift I’d never been blessed with before.

And I fell into a deep dreamless slumber knowing no one could get to me and interrupt it.

Chapter 3 – Arianna

Thenextafternoon,Isat in a silk dressing gown at the vanity, much like I had last night, as my mother’s glam team dried and curled my hair. I was in a daze, but it wasn’t from the tonic this time.

It was from the memories that kept swirling through my head of the mysterious priest last night and the things he made my body feel and experience.

And how I ached to feel them again.

I couldn’t even be bothered to think about my future husband and worry over what kind of man he would be towards me anymore, because I only had enough brain capacity for the man from last night.

“Ari!” Anita yelled from across the room. “I said, can I wear this?” She held up a white silk dress that I’d brought for wedding activities, though I hadn’t needed to wear it given that I didn’t have any activities to attend besides the dinner last night.

The same one that my future husband hadn’t bothered to attend.

That was what the priest had said anyway.

“No, you cannot wear white silk to your sister’s wedding, Anita.” My mother huffed from her seat across the room. She held her forehead in her hands and nursed a mimosa.
