“I’m perfect,” I replied dreamily, smiling into the slick skin on his neck before biting it.
“Promise?” He grunted, pulling his flesh from my teeth. “Is the baby okay?”
“He’s fine.” I sighed and the baby confirmed that by rolling over forcefully between us and stepping directly on my bladder. “Though I may pee all over you and the table if I don’t get up soon.”
He chuckled and kissed my temple. “Now that’s where I draw the line.”
“Hmm. Then help me up.”
He stood up and lifted me off the table onto my tingling legs and held me until I was steady. “Put this on, your dress is ruined.” He lifted his tee shirt off the back of the bench, and I lifted my arms over my head as he put it on me. It covered me well enough to make it upstairs to our bedroom where I could change. He slid back into his black shorts looking like my most favorite snack in the world.
We walked out of the gym together, with his arm over my shoulders and smiles on both of our faces. “I needed that,” I whispered as we went up the stairs to our wing.
“Yeah, so did I.” He smirked down at me. “But I’m too old to give it to you like that every time. So you’ll have to settle for every third or fourth time.”
I tilted my head back and laughed, pinching his side and allowing his mirth to warm me. It’d been so long since I’d seen him genuinely relaxed in my presence. “Every other and we have a deal.”
He grunted and kissed my head, holding open the bedroom door. “Fine, but only if you promise to soak your body in a hot bath after each time. I don’t want you getting sore.”
“Hmm.” I hummed, tapping my fingertip to the end of my chin like I was contemplating his proposal. “Deal.” I smirked and held my hand out for him, as he closed his palm over mine, I quickly added, “If you join me for the bubble bath each and every time. Or no deal.”
He pursed his lips and rolled his eyes. “I’m an incredibly busy man and you want me wasting my time away in a bubble bath to appease my stubborn wife?”
I raised one eyebrow at him and put my hands on my hips as he turned the tap on in the tub before pouring my favorite bubble bath in. When he looked back over at me, I took the shirt off over my head and leaned up to get as close to his ear as I could and whispered. “If you join me, I’ll do that thing with my tongue you like. You know, where I lick your balls and try to tie them like a cherry stem with my tongue.” I purred and ran my hands over his bare shoulders.
“Minx.” He growled, grabbing my ass with both of his hands. “I would have agreed anyway, but now that you’ve sweetened the pot, you have a deal.”
“Worth it.” I winked at him and stepped into the steaming water, lowering my tired body down into it with a hiss and a sigh as he sank in behind me and pulled me against his chest. I listened to nothing but the hiss of the bubbles as they popped while his hands massaged my arms and shoulders until I was a pile of goo in his hands.
“Marry me.” He whispered into my ear.
My eyes popped open as surprise confused me. “I thought we already were.” I scoffed, “For almost a year now.”
“I know.” He kissed my neck, gathering my hair to one side for easy access. “But I want to do it the right way this time.” He kissed me. “I want to woo you.” He kissed me again. “I want to romance you.” And again. “I want you to have the wedding you didn’t get last time and the honeymoon we got robbed of. I want a redo.”
“I don’t need to redo it, Nico.” I turned in his arms and faced him. “I have you, and that’s all that matters.”
“I know, but I want this.” His green eyes were serious as he stared at me. “For our first anniversary, right after the baby comes. Let’s do it again, the right way.”
My heart melted for the man who once told me he’d use my body for his own pleasure as it was his right as my husband in a tactic to dominate me. Gone were his attempts to overpower me and control me with fear and authority. Now we were partners, lovers, and companions and he was everything I ever wanted without even knowing it.
“I’m so lucky to call you mine,” I whispered dreamily. “Yes. Yes, forever and a day.”
