She blushed.

He winked. “Anyway, my parents had this sports policy in our household growing up. Thought it would keep me and the sibs out of trouble.”

“What was the policy?”

“We all had to pick one. My older brother Reese chose fencing, my little sister Connor went with soccer, and I got into surfing.”

“Wait,” Andy said, growing sidetracked by the names he’d rattled off. “Kyle, Reese, and Connor. Are your parents bigTerminatorfans?”

“Caught that, did ya?” Kyle slanted another impressed grin her way. “Andalise Rhodes, you are a gem.”

Andy’s cheeks warmed at the praise. “I just know my sci-fi.”

“Yeah, my parents do too.” They switched lanes, and Kyle stepped on it. “Anyway, that’s how I met Luke and Dylan. My dad wanted me with the best surf instructor on the beach.”

“That was Francesca MacCallum.”

“Yeah. That was her.” Kyle’s smile was a little sad before it turned rueful. “And Frankie used to rib me pretty hard too.” Kyle raised his voice a few octaves.“Move those arms, Richie Rich! A poodle could out-paddle you, and I know you have one!”

Andy giggled. “That does sound like someone I know. Did Luke and Dylan give you crap too?”

“Oh yeah. A ton of it in the beginning. But eventually, they sorted out that I wasn’t some spoiled rich-boy poser. I worked hard at learning the sport and genuinely loved it as much as they did.”

“And you all became friends.”

“We did. Close as brothers. Closer actually.”

“You and your brother aren’t—”

Shut up, Andy, shut up! He probably doesn’t want to talk about it.

But Kyle only shrugged. “Reese and I are really different, and there are several years between us.”

“Oh. I see.”

The conversation stalled. Andy searched for something to say. She’d been doing pretty well so far, save for probing him about his brother.

“Your cologne isn’t too bad.”

Jesus, really? That was the best she could do.

Kyle — rightfully so — shot her the side-eye. “Sniffed some stinkers, have you?”

Andy thought of the musky scent Aldon favored and grimaced. “A few.”

“Well, I’ll be sure to thank Reese’s administrative assistant for doing his Christmas shopping for him.” Kyle’s cynical smirk spread into a genuine smile as he swerved the Lamborghini to a stop in front of a sand-colored building with cardinal-red doors. The only thing identifying it was the smallSin Spotneon sign hanging above the long line of people waiting to get in.

Helping Andy from the car, Kyle pulled up the sleeve of his sport coat to check his watch. “Perfect. Just enough time to give you the grand tour.” After handing off his keys to a valet, Kyle ushered her up the steps under the awning.

Inside, the warmly lit cream and crimson lobby was already buzzing with people. Staff mostly, as all wore fitted club shirts with black pants, skirts, or the kind of tiny shorts Ski clearly favored.

Spotting them, the pretty brunette sauntered over with a tray of drinks. “Hey, boss,” she said brightly. “We’ve got Pit One set up for you as usual.”

“Cool.” He tipped his head towards Andy. “Also, I want Andalise Rhodes added to our VIP list.”

“Of course.” Ski’s long lashes fluttered her way.

Andy’s face warmed, remembering her last encounter with the woman.
