“I love you too,” he replies, and we’re both quiet for a while, letting the words manifest between us. Finally, Markus speaks again. “How is it having Grigory there?”

I smile and stroke the panda’s head. “Good. Overwhelming and a little scary, but also good.”

“I’m glad to hear,” he says, and I can hear the smile in his voice.

“What’s going to happen now? I mean, after these two weeks are over?”

“We haven’t talked much about the details yet. Everything happened so fast. So for now, the two of you are going to spend some time together, see how it goes, and then we’ll take it from there.” There’s a short breath like he’s stopped himself from saying something. Then he sighs as if deciding to say it anyway. “I don’t want to get your hopes up too soon, but I do hope we can continue this threesome dynamic on a more permanent basis. Grigory is good for you and you are good for him. And I like sharing you with him.”

“Aren’t you jealous?”

Markus chuckles. “Of course I’m a little jealous. He gets to spend two weeks fucking you and I don’t.”

My cheeks grow red. God, it’s strange talking to my boyfriend about fucking another man. But I guess I’ll have to get used to it.

“But seriously, no. To be frank, I was quite relieved to pass you on to him at the airport.” Markus’s voice takes on a somber edge. “The idea of you going home alone after this summer wasbrutal.”

“Are you really okay with him taking charge of me for two weeks? I mean, it feels strange to take orders from him, not knowing if you’re okay with it.”

“I trust his judgment. This won’t work if I don’t. And of course he’s not going to make any big decisions without consulting me first.”

“He told me to stay home tomorrow,” I blurt.

Markus huffs a laugh. “That’s not a big decision. And I already know.”

“What? How?” I haven’t seen him use his phone since he ordered pizza.

“He texted me an hour ago, saying he’d decided to keep you home tomorrow.”

“And you’re okay with that?”

“Of course. I think it’s a great decision. You’re not ready to start school after all that’s happened.”

My stomach makes a little flip. Not only do I have one bossy man to tell me what to do, but two dominants who can team up on me. Like with the key, the idea is both a little scary and very thrilling.

—CHAPTER 4 —

CLARA

“Time to get up.”

Blinking my sleepy eyes, I see the powerful man towering beside my bed—in my apartment. My stomach makes a tipsy flip as I remember the last two days. Grigory fucking me, Grigory holding me, Grigory driving me insane with need. Of course I’ve also spent a lot of time at the piano—sometimes with him at my side, wielding his cruel stick—and hours sitting in bed, reading or watching TV with his arm wrapped around me.

Today is Tuesday, I realize to my great dismay. I’m starting a new semester, and our bubble is about to burst.

I rub my eyes. “What time is it?”

“Seven.”

I groan and pull the covers up to my chin. “Can I have thirty more minutes? I don’t have classes until one.” He already knows this since he spent half an hour grilling me about my schedule and plans for the fall yesterday, wanting to know everything from the exact hours I needed to spend at the university to my social calendar. Then he decided it was better that I cut a little back on the reading instead of compromising my piano practice. You’ll keep practicing four hours a day,he concluded.

Grigory takes a sip from the paper cup in his hand and shakes his head. “You’ve slept more than plenty. I don’t want to mess with your routine—especially not when you have early classes tomorrow.”

I hate to say it, but the man has a point. Last night, I fell asleep against him when we sat together in bed, reading. He kept rubbing circles on my bare stomach, and it was so soothing it lulled me straight to sleep even though it was only a little after nine. Which means I’ve slept for ten hours. That’s a rarity.

I push up to sit on the edge of the bed and wrap a blanket around me. “How long have you been up?”

“A couple of hours.”
