“Daniel also has majority share, along with Fletch and Hunter. It’s a different scenario.”

Emma dropped her head back and let out a long breath.

“I’m not leaving,” Logan said stubbornly.

“This isn’t going to work.”

The fuck it wouldn’t. While she might be right, he wanted to try.

“Emma, I never thought I would let another woman into my life. My bed, yes. My life, no. But I want you.” Logan took her hand.

“Because I nearly died,” Emma said, as if that were the only reason he was there.

It wasn’t.

Logan had already had the awareness of his growing feelings for her when they were in the Hamptons.

Emma knew that.

“Bullshit. I asked to see you again the morning before we left the Hamptons. I know you know that,” Logan reminded her. “Your accident just sped up the realization of my feelings.”

Emma squeezed his hand, and he wasn’t sure she knew she had.

“God, I’m sorry, sweetheart. You’re sore and tired, and I’m being a goddamn caveman.”

A smile twitched at her lips.

“Iamhappy you’re here,” she said in a breathy voice.

“Yeah?”

“Yes.” Then Emma’s smile began to fade. “I was so damn scared, Logan. The plane...”

“Shh...,” he whispered, wrapping his arms around her. “It’s okay. You’re safe now.”

He pulled back, and their eyes locked.

“Can I kiss you?” he asked.

Logan had never asked a woman if he could kiss her before. He was the kind of man who took. Who demanded. But Emma felt delicate and in need of a lot of TLC. Logan wanted to be the one to give it to her.

“I’m all gross,” she said, screwing up her cute damn nose.

“She’s also just been in a plane crash. Step away from my friend,” Harper said from behind him.

Logan groaned and rolled his eyes.

Emma burst into a smile, so he moved away.

“Em.” Harper came rushing toward the bed. “So glad to see you awake. Has he been horrible?”

Emma shook her head.

Daniel appeared, leaning against the doorjamb, and shot him a look.

“All these strong-looking men, Emma. Your trip to New York was obviously very lucrative.” Her mother stepped back into the room in her doctor’s jacket.

Jesus, really?
