He wasn’t even sure Andrew loved Margaret. Or ever had.

Still, his uncle’s comment had bugged him.

“I’m thirty-fucking-four, not a kid,” Logan had said. “But yes, you should discuss it.” The two men had glared at him, but Logan stood facing the senior Dufort’s with his shoulders back. “Both of you divided this family, and I will not allow it anymore. So, sort your shit out.”

He saw a hint of pride in Jonathan’s eyes, but not his father’s. Andrew looked furious. The last thing he saw as he turned and left was his mother’s hand on Andrew’s arm.

Logan was way too sleep-deprived for this today, but sometimes, things just had to be said.

What had happened between Jonathan and Andrew had taken place well before Logan was born. As a little boy, Logan had heard the two men fighting about Margaret, but it wasn’t until he got older that he pieced it together.

She had been Andrew’s girlfriend first. But not for long. When she’d met Jonathan, she fell in love with him. An unfortunate set of circumstances, but that was life. Except suddenly, once Margaret began dating Jonathan, his father had believed she was the love of his life.

For years, he had been bitter about it and, apparently, caused a stink at their wedding. But eventually, he met Christine, Logan’s mother, and married.

One would think that was it.

One wouldn’t have met his father...He never let things go. And clearly, his ego had been bruised.

A few years later, when news of Jonathan’s indiscretions became public, Andrew had brought it up at a family event.

Logan remembered the conflict well. That was when his grandmother had gotten involved and told Jonathan she was ashamed of him. Which only fueled Andrew further.

His grandmother had never liked Margaret for reasons Logan didn’t understand. Words were said that couldn’t be unsaid, and Jonathan had left that day, never to return to their lives again.

Until today.

No matter what happened between the senior men now, Logan was going to be the glue that stuck his family together.

Something he should have done years ago, but regrets were a waste of time. They started here, today.

“To Grandma,” Logan said, lifting his glass. “May she rest in peace.”

“To Grandma,” Hunter, Fletcher, Aidan, and Daniel echoed.

Logan was looking forward to being in the Hamptons and getting to know them better.

Then again, he had no idea that, in less than twenty-four hours, he’d be sitting in the Dufort helicopter opposite the woman he’d fucked last night.

Forced to spend three days in the same house as Emma.
