Jesus.

This was what he was trying to avoid.

“It’s not. I’m divorced. Angry. Hate women. Whatever you need to hear,” Logan said.

“So angry you’re buying not one, not two, butthreeChanel outfits to put a smile on her face? Sounds like fury to me.”

Logan ground his teeth and glared at Harper, but she pressed her lips together to stop from smiling.

Goddamn it, she was lucky she was married to his cousin.

“I’m a wealthy man, Harper Dufort. It’s hardly going to break the bank,” he said darkly. “I didn’t want her to feel...left out. Or bad. Or whatever. Fucking hell.”

She broke out into a smile.

“If you had just waited, I was going to pay for it,” Harper confessed. “But it’s very sweet.”

He leaned in. “Not sweet. I was just...”

Fuck.

“Let me spell it out. I am fucking your friend. There will be no love, roses, or diamond rings. No proposals or weddings. Its sex. The end. If I don’t want her brooding over a dress, it’s because I want to peel the thing off her tomorrow night and fuck her with a smile,” Logan growled quietly.

Harper stared at him with wide eyes, then shook her head.

“Wow. It’s like all you Dufort men are missing a gene or something.”

David pushed open the door. “Everything okay here?”

“Yes,” they both said, but Harper was the only one smiling when they climbed into the car.

David was driving.

As they pulled away from the curb and sped past the mall, Logan knew Emma was in there. He had no right caring about when or how she would get back to Fletcher and Olivia’s house.

He barely knew the woman.

He knew her body.

He knew her cries.

He knew he enjoyed fucking her.

All he’d done was make sure Emma had everything she needed now the wedding had been sprung on them. She was the sole single woman in the group of billionaires, and Logan had the financial means.

He was just being thoughtful.

That was it.

Nothing more.

Logan was sleeping with Emma, so it wasn’t like he had zero interest. Happy woman, happy fuck.

God, he even sounded like an asshole to his own ears.

Fletcher had laughed when he’d called, asking why he’d do such a thing.

“Don’t ask. Just...consider it a wedding gift.”
