A story for another day.

But it clearly had been a scary time for them all.

“Except he didn’t. He staged a damn coup and got the board to vote out the anti-fraternization rule,” Daniel said in a growl.

“It wasn’t a coup,” Harper and Fletcher said simultaneously.

Everyone laughed.

“It was coup,” Daniel protested firmly.

Logan smirked.

“Well, that’s pretty romantic, Fletch. I’m glad you got your girl.Girls.And I’m honored to be here with you as you commit your lives to one another,” Emma said.

Logan glanced out across the flames.

Of course, Emma was a romantic. She wrote this stuff every day and likely had unrealistic fantasies about what love and marriage were.

He could tell her.

It wasn’t all roses.

None of his cousins had experienced heartache like he had. They’d met the women they loved and were getting their happy ever afters.

There wasn’t one of those for a man like him.

Zoe had cheated, taken the baby he’d thought was his, and was now living with the real father. Whoever the hell the guy was. All Logan had seen was the guy’s ass when he’d hightailed it out of their fucking bedroom, with his pants hiding his dick.

The same dick that had been inside his wife.

Hisdamn wife.

So, no, he didn’t give a fuck who the guy was. He’d not spoken to Zoe since they had to communicate during the divorce. She’d ripped out his heart and chewed it up before spitting it out.

Bitch.

Immediately, he regretted that thought. Logan wanted to hate her, but he didn’t. He’d known Zoe for too long to truly hate her. Logan hated her actions. Her choices.

He hated that she’d destroyed him in a way he didn’t know how to come back from.

“Let’s go to bed, lover.” Harper lifted her chin to Daniel, and he tugged her up and kissed her.

“What an invitation, wife,” Daniel said, then turned to them and nodded to the fire. “You need help putting this out?”

“You staying?” Fletcher asked Logan.

“For a while.” Logan lifted his half-full beer up and shook it.

He didn’t care about the beer.

Logan wanted time on the sand with the gorgeous woman beside him.

Maybe it was all the salt air and romantic talk.

“I’ll help him,” Emma offered. “I’m not tired, so I’ll hang with you, if that’s okay?”

Logan tried for a nonchalant shrug. “Sure. We can talk about you being brave enough to go into space.”
