“Where to start?” Fletcher pressed his lips together in thought, as if about to tell a generations-long story about his ancestors.

Emma laughed, her eyes drifting over to Logan’s. The pull to kiss her was growing stronger.

“Nothing romantic about it. They were shagging in the stationary room at the office,” Daniel said. “I busted them, and he got shitty, so we had to change the anti-fraternization rule in the company. Now they’re marrying. The end.”

Both Harper and Fletcher burst out laughing.

“First, you never busted us,” Fletch protested.

“Office romance,” Harper and Emma cried out together and laughed. Logan squinted in question, and Emma waved him off, still laughing.

“We both liked each other for ages. But big bro here had enforced that anti-fraternization rule, so we couldn’t sleep together. At first, I thought it was a good idea. She was—is—my PR manager.”

“Then what happened?” Logan asked.

Fletcher shrugged. “One day, I just couldn’t keep my hands off her. Wait, I know that sounds creepy. It wasn’t like that. Okay, it was. I don’t know how to explain it. If I hadn’t kissed Olivia that day, I think I would have exploded.”

Logan stared at his cousin.

Then at Emma.

“Then a onetime thing led to wanting more,” Fletcher continued.

“When Olivia resigned and then her daughter was kidnapped, life just got really fucking clear. I would have given up everything to get Sammy back.” Fletcher shook his head. “Everything.”

Logan didn’t know the full story, but the little girl had said her daddy was in jail, and he suspected there was a connection in there somewhere.
