“I’ll see you back to your hotel,” Logan offered, mirroring her as she stood.

Oh God.

Make a decision.

“I’ll get my driver to take you both home.” Daniel reached for his phone.

“There’s no need.” Logan dragged his eyes from Emma. “I have a car downstairs.”

Decide. Now.

He rounded the table and stood terribly close as Ivy, their housekeeper, came out with Emma’s coat. Even though it was early September, she had bought a lightweight one to wear over her sleeveless dress on the way home.

“I’ll see you in the morning,” Harper said. “Eight thirty—we’ll pick you up. Bright and early.”

Logan took the coat from Ivy and held it out for Emma to slide into, his breath on her neck causing a shudder throughout her body.

Holy shit.

When she turned to thank him, those dark blue eyes above her were so close, his musky scent so intoxicating, her blood turned to fire.

Emma stifled a moan.

Decision made. Yes.

Emma wanted a night with this man regardless of the circumstances. The way his tall body enveloped her with this heat and sexual energy, there was no way she could say no. Throw in those gorgeous naughty eyes and holy hell, hold my panties.

“Thank you,” she whispered, then cleared her throat and said louder, “Thank you.”

Instead of replying, his large hand went to the small of her back, and he guided her to the elevator.

“I look forward to seeing Amelia and Aidan tomorrow.” Daniel shook Logan’s hand. “Under better circumstances than our grandmother’s funeral would be good, but it’s great to be connected with you all again.”

“Ditto,” Logan said, his grasp firm.

Powerful men. Powerful handshakes.

It was intoxicating, or perhaps it was just her hormones on overload as the six-foot-three muscular man stood towering, her shoulder brushing his chest.

Good Lord, he’s going to be inside me within the hour, and I’m getting excited he touched my shoulder.

“Shall we go?” Logan rasped.

Emma lifted her head and nodded, giving her friend a small wave.

Harper leaned her head against her husband’s arm, and like on autopilot, he wrapped it around her. “Get home safe.”

Oh, she would.

Eventually.

Tonight, as she watched Harper stand there with her husband, it reminded Emma of her track record with men.

She’d dated fellow lawyers and even a few medical professionals she met through her brother, who’d also gone to Harvard, but all of them had been failures.

One day, she hoped to meet someone who looked at her like Daniel looked at Harper. Someone who loved her. Someone compatible and more like her. The new her. Creative. Entrepreneurial. Indie. Emma wasn’t yet sure. But she did know one thing.

Corporate men like Logan were not her type.
