She drew in a deep breath, sniffed, and wiped her eyes. No more tears for Logan Dufort.

He was her past.

Thanks for the orgasms, asshole, but you can find someone else to sink your wick into.

It was a nice thick wick, but anyway, not the point. Emma drew a mental line in the sand and put Logan far on the other side.

He had never been someone she could see herself with long term, so this was best.

Totally for the best.

Emma could just hear her mother.A man like Logan can’t be associated with someone of your profession. You should understand that.

She wasn’t a prostitute, for God’s sake.

The plane gave a jolt when they hit some turbulence. Emma did up her seatbelt, which she’d left undone after a trip to the bathroom, and leaned her head back, closing her eyes.

Ping.

“The captain has turned the seatbelt light on. Please return to your seats and fasten your seatbelt. We ask that you refrain from moving about the cabin at this time. We are expecting some heavy turbulence,” the flight attendant said.

Emma glanced up as the plane rattled and bumped. She wasn’t a nervous flier, but this was worse than normal. When the flight attendants began moving throughout the plane, directing people to sit down, Emma closed her eyes again.

But it didn’t last long.

For the next twenty minutes, the turbulence was horrendous. They felt the captain attempt to fly out of it and then were told there was a widespread thunderstorm across the northeast United States, causing it.

People were throwing up around her. One woman began to spiral into a panic, and despite two flight attendants trying to calm her, when the plane dipped, she ended up going unconscious.

Emma’s hands were in pain, clinging to the armrests, praying to every god she knew—and some she didn’t—that they’d land safe.

The sudden roar of the engine silenced everyone for a split second.

Then, when the oxygen masks dropped, she screamed along with the rest of the passengers.
