“Yeah, I’ve seen you around with Legend,” Ryder said.

“Yes, um, is Savage around?” he asked.

“Yep, he’s back in his office. Do you know where it is?” Ryder asked.

“I do,” Gavin said. “Thanks.” He walked down the dark, narrow hallway to the back office that Savage occupied.

“Hey, Gavin,” Savage said, smiling out at him. “Come on in.”

“Thanks, man,” Gavin said.

“Are you here to talk some more about joining my club?” Savage asked.

“Yeah, but before we get to that, I’d like some more information about what Myles is doing for your guy, Spider?” he asked.

“Sure, I’ll try to answer any questions that I can,” he promised.

“What exactly is he doing for Spider? I mean, he’s told me and Gen the gist, but I’m worried about him, man,” Gavin said.

“Rightly so,” Savage agreed. “If it was Bowie, I’d have questions too. He’s basically watching Spiders back while he does some intel. A new guy named Chains has taken over the Ghosts along with the human trafficking ring that they run. They got a new shipment of girls in faster than Spider was ready for, and he can’t watch them and tear apart Chains’ office to find anything that might bring him down.”

“How dangerous are the Ghosts?” Gavin asked. “Should I be worried that they’ll figure out who Myles really is and come after me and Genesis?” he asked.

“Yeah, you should be worried. They are the worst of the worst and Legend is an idiot for not using an alias or going fully undercover. I warned him, but you know how stubborn Legend is.” He knew exactly how stubborn his guy was.

“I’m afraid that his decision had to do with Gen and me. We were just getting started and I think Myles believed that if he walked away from the two of us for a while, we’d cool off, you know?” he asked. Savage nodded. “I’m just afraid that this decision is going to end up being trouble for the three of us.”

“Do you have good security?” he asked.

“We’re all living with Myles now, and he’s got a state-of-the-art system,” Gavin said.

“Use it,” Savage ordered. “If you’re home, you make sure it’s armed. If anything looks suspicious or out of the ordinary, call either the cops or me. I can have some guys over to you in no time flat.”

“You’d do that?” Gavin asked.

“That’s what we do in this club. We have each other’s back, no matter how hard it is. If you call me, I’ll be there with a bunch of our guys. This isn’t the first time that we’ve gone up against the Ghosts. We’ll help you and your new family out,” Savage promised.

“We’re not a family—yet,” he said.

“Sure you are,” Savage corrected, “you all might just be getting started, but you’re still a family. You just need to remember that Legend is pretty kick-ass when it comes to being able to take care of himself. He’s got mad skills and he’ll get through this. It’s why I asked him to help Spider out in the first place—he’s tough as nails.”

Gavin nodded, too choked up to say anything more on the topic. “About me joining the club, I’d love to be considered.”

“Great, I’ll get the paperwork filled out and turned in to our charter club, the Royal Bastards, and when I get the all-clear back, we’ll find you a club member to sponsor you.”

“That sounds good, thanks man,” he said.

“Quick question—Myles is on board with this decision, right?” he asked.

“He is,” Gavin said, “he’s even offered to sponsor me.”

“Wow, that’s great,” Savage said. “I’ll get started on the paperwork and you call me if you need anything,” Savage ordered.

“Thanks, Savage,” Gavin said, “will do.” He had a feeling that he was going to like having the backing of an MC. It was going to feel good to belong to something bigger than himself. He was finally getting the family he wanted, and now, the club he never knew he needed. All in all, Gavin was feeling pretty damn good about life.

He got home to find Genesis making dinner and the sight of her wearing her sexy little apron and stirring whatever smelled like heaven had him wanting to beg her to skip dinner and go up to bed with him. Hell, they didn’t even need to go to bed—he was fine with the kitchen table.
