“You look good enough to eat,” he whispered in her ear. Gavin wrapped his arms around her from behind and she leaned back against him.

“How about you let me finish dinner and then, we can discuss what you have in mind. I’ve been slaving over my favorite meal and I’m hoping that you and Myles like it. I don’t want to screw it up,” Gen said.

“What is it?” he asked, looking into the sauté pan.

“Chicken marsala. I learned to make it when I was just a kid. It’s my comfort food,” she said.

“You want to tell me why you need comfort food, honey?” he asked.

She shrugged, “I guess I’m just worried about Myles. He’s working late for Spider, and I don’t like him not being able to check in with us, you know?” Here, he was trying to avoid bringing up his fears about Myles helping Spider out and Gen was worried about the same thing.

“Yeah, I’m worried about our guy too. I even stopped by Savage Hell to talk to Savage. He would know more about this job than we do. Although he didn’t reassure me that we’re out of the woods, he did remind me that Myles is quite capable of taking care of himself.”

“I know that he is,” she said. “I know that you both are capable of taking care of yourselves, but I still worry. What if they find out that Myles isn’t who he says he is? What happens then?” That was the one thing that he didn’t have an answer for. He hated that he couldn’t reassure her any more than he could himself.

“All we can do is stand by our guy and help him out if he needs it. The rest is out of our hands. Savage did offer to help out too if we need it. He said that all we have to do is call him and he’ll have half the club over here in just minutes.”

“That’s nice of him,” Genesis said.

“Yeah, he also said to use the security system that Myles has set up. It’s state of the art and will come in handy if anyone starts snooping around here who shouldn’t be. Make sure that you have it armed at all times. Do you remember the code?” he asked.

“Yes,” she said. “It’s Myles’s birthday.”

“Yep, we really need to get him to come up with a more secure code,” Gavin said. “I’ll talk to him about that when he gets home. Have you heard when that might be?” he asked.

“No,” she grumbled. “He hasn’t checked in yet. I’m guessing that you and I should go ahead and eat, and I’ll save him a plate.”

“You know, it’s going to be like this sometimes, honey,” Gavin said. “One of us will have to work late and the other two will have to fend for themselves.”

“I know, I guess I’m just being grumpy because I’m worried about Myles,” she admitted.

“Well, I say we make the best of this and have a little date night tonight—just the two of us. We can get to know each other better and then, hopefully, we’ll get to what I want to do with you.”

Genesis giggled and nodded against his chest. “I’d like that,” she admitted. “Thanks for trying to cheer me up, Gavin. I appreciate it.”

“Always,” he promised. He’d spend every waking hour trying to make her and Myles happy. It was what he loved doing because the two of them made him so damn happy.

Legend

Legend had been working for Spider for almost three weeks now but had only met with the guy, one on one, just one time. He felt like he was literally working for a ghost, especially after hearing that the guy was believed to be dead.

He had done a little snooping himself and found out that Spider let the Ghosts stage his death so that he could work for them as a literal ghost. One of the guys from the club, Demon, witnessed the accident that had him believe that Spider was dead, but he wasn’t. He was alive and well and giving Myles the cold shoulder—something that he planned on putting a stop to tonight.

He was going to find Spider, demand some answers, and then head home to Gen and Gavin. All he wanted to do was tell them that he missed them and spend the whole night holding them both. Hell, what he really wanted to do was tell them both that he had fallen in love with them and that he wanted forever with them both, but he didn’t want to make promises that he might not be able to keep. Right now, his whole life was so up in the air, and crazy, he needed to figure his shit out before making grand declarations of love to Gen and Gavin.

He found Spider up in the boss’s office and gently knocked on the open door, startling the poor guy. “Jesus, Legend,” Spider growled, “you scared the fuck out of me.”

“Sorry, didn’t mean to. We need to talk,” Myles said.

“Are you breaking up with me already?” Spider joked. Myles shrugged and Spider cursed. He walked past Myles, looking out into the hallway to make sure that they were alone, and then shut the door. “We can’t be seen talking like this, man,” Spider said. “It’s why I’ve kept my distance. The boss already suspects me and if Chains thinks that you’re working for me, he’ll have both of our heads.”

“You’ve barely said two words to me, man,” Myles said. “I need to know what’s going on. Hell, I need to know how much longer you’re going to need me. I have a real job that I need to get back to at some point.”

“I understand. Just give me a few more days. I’ll clue you in when I have news, but until then, you need to keep your distance. It’s the best way to keep both of us safe around here,” Spider said.

“I’m hurting the people that I love by helping you, Spider,” Myles said. “But I’m doing this as a favor to Savage. I can give you a few more days, but that’s it.”

“I appreciate that, man,” Spider agreed. “And I’m sorry that you’re hurting your family but think of all those poor women in there, rotting in cages. We need to help them too, and you’re doing that by sticking around and having my back.”
