My addiction to Sophia grows stronger every time I’m with her. It’s inevitable that this ends in heartbreak––most likely for her––but at the moment, I don’t care.

I’d do anything to make her mine, even if it means we’re both ruined in the end.

By the time we both come crashing down from our high, we’re breathless.

“You’re going to kill me, Knox Kingston,” she says, climbing out of my lap.

“What are you doing the rest of the night?” I ask her, not wanting to be away from her.

“Nothing now. I’ve got to cancel a date.” She frowns.

“Spend the evening with me,” I say, grabbing her hand.

Her eyes search my face, almost as if she’s waiting for the catch.

“Let’s get something to eat. Go out in public. Let me take you on a date instead,” I say.

“Okay, let me get changed,” she says, a smile crossing her face.

I watch her leave before getting up to hop in the shower. I don’t know if this is a good idea. I’m not sure I’m built to have a relationship. I’ve never done this before, but she makes me want to try.

Thirty minutes later, I’m upstairs, leaning against the doorway to the kitchen, when Sophia comes down the stairs.

I know my mouth has to be hanging open. I’ve seen a lot of beautiful women in my life, but I’ve never seen anyone as beautiful as Sophia.

She’s wearing a red sundress with white polka dots. It stops above her knee, grazing her thighs. Her long tan legs are on display and she’s wearing these white strappy sandals. The dress drops just low enough that her ample cleavage is on full display. It’s taking everything in me not to haul her back downstairs to my bedroom.

“What? Why are you looking at me like that?” she asks, looking down at her dress, running her hands over it.

“Because you’re so fucking beautiful it hurts,” I say, reaching out to pull her close to me, kissing her.

“Oh stop.” She rolls her eyes, putting her hands on my chest to push me away.

“I’m serious. I’m the luckiest guy on the fucking planet right now,” I say, looking her in the eyes, watching a blush creep up her cheeks.

“So, where are we going?” she asks, changing the subject.

“I want to take you to my favorite restaurant. I have no plans after that. I just want to spend time with you,” I admit.

She smiles at me before planting a kiss on my lips.

Her kisses leave me breathless.

Once we’re in the truck, I start to get nervous. I’m not used to feeling this way. I’m used to being in control. Sophia makes me crazy. I don’t know how to act when I’m with her.

The ride is quiet, but it isn’t awkward. She quietly sings along to the radio, and I enjoy the sound of her voice.

I pull into my favorite seafood place about fifteen minutes later. It’s a small hole-in-the-wall place, but it has an amazing view of the ocean.

“I've never been here before,” she admits.

“Most people haven’t. It’s a hidden gem,” I say, before getting out of the truck.

“You surprise me,” she says, joining me in front of the truck.

“What do you mean?”

“I mean, I was expecting something a little higher end,” she admits.
