Two hours later, I’m standing in front of the floor length mirror in my bedroom at the Kingston house. I look amazing. I’m also nervous to find out what Knox thinks.

“Sophia, are you ready?” I hear him call from downstairs.

Kinsley rushes into the room before I have a chance to leave.

“You look gorgeous. I hope you have the best time,” she says, throwing her arms around me.

“Thanks for your help,” I tell her.

I walk down the stairs carefully. Knox has his back to me, his hands in his pockets as he stares out the living room window. He looks amazing in his suit.

He turns around just as I reach the bottom stair.

I would give my life to have Knox look at me the way he’s looking at me over and over again. He makes me feel like I’m the most beautiful woman in the world without even saying a word.

“Sophia, you are stunning,” he says, striding over to me, wrapping his arms around my waist.

“You don’t look so bad yourself,” I say.

He puts his fingers on my chin, moving my face to look up at him before leaning down and pressing his lips to mine.

I wish there were words to describe what it’s like to kiss Knox. His kiss transports me to another place. A place where only the two of us exist.

He pulls away, brushing his thumb over my cheek, gazing into my eyes.

I’m suddenly hit with the urge to tell him I love him. An urge so strong that I have to pull away and pretend I’m adjusting something on my dress just so I don’t say it.

I’m not ready to lay my heart completely on the line just yet.

“We better get out of here before I say, ‘fuck it,’ and carry you downstairs,” he says, his heated stare gliding over my body.

He grabs my hand, pulling me towards the door, and I try to calm myself down from the monumental discovery I just had within myself.

An hour later, we’re pulling up to the nicest hotel I’ve ever seen.

“Whoa,” I say.

“My dad is more than a little over the top,” he says, pulling up to the valet.

“I’ll say. I’ve never seen anything like this.”

We get out of the car, and he immediately grabs my hand. I don’t miss the way every woman in our vicinity has their eyes on him. I don’t blame them.

“You have fans,” I lean over to whisper in his ear.

“I don’t care about anyone but you,” he says, his eyes locking with mine.

I can feel the air leaving my lungs. If he keeps saying things like that, I’m going to end up telling him how crazy I am about him. I’m not sure he’s ready for that conversation yet.

We walk inside and the room is full of people I’ve never seen before in my life. I can already tell this night is going to be overwhelming. Knox must sense my discomfort, because he leans over to whisper in my ear.

“We don't have to stay long. Make an appearance, then I’m taking you home and getting you out of this dress,” he promises, making my skin heat up.

We mingle with several people before Knox grabs my hand, leading me towards his dad.

“I need to get this out of the way so we can get out of here,” he says.

“Ah, Knox. Glad to see you could make it. Sophia.” He nods in my direction.
